| X5 gets design award at Frankfurt Autoshow Crappy babelfish BMW X5 wins "autonis" the 2007 for the most attractive Design. 12.09.2007 Munich. On the international motor show (IAA) 2007 in Frankfurt became yesterday the BMW X5 in the category jeep the winner of the competition "autonis - best Design novelty 2007" gekuert. In March 2007 on the German market introduced new edition of the BMW X5 became generally accepted with clear projection/lead against the competition in its competition surrounding field. The result proves that the singular of sport cannot only impress Activity Vehicle (SAV) of BMW with its superior handling characteristics is noticed, but in the public also as particularly attractive and styleful vehicle. The technical periodical "car engine and sport" had determined the most beautiful vehicles under the new publications of the last twelve months for the "autonis" award of the prize in a reader inquiry. They arrange vehicles, which do not only please at first sight, but lasting optical effect obtain. BMW chief designer Adrian van Hooydonk explains this in such a way: "we designers want to make a possessing of a BMW the experience and to make a relationship possible between humans and product, itself constantly deepened." The Design of a BMW is therefore always an expression of the authentic product substance, and as such it makes this substance for the customer noticeable and experiencable. First it excites the attention of the viewer about an aesthetic feature, which reflects the identity of the Premiummarke BMW. Beyond that it releases again and again on new emotions, which lead to the fact that the vehicle Design exceeds expectations durably and the customers lastingly to the product and binds the mark. In this way the Design becomes a success factor for the entire enterprise. Basis of the Design development: The principle "Collective Intelligence". Automobile Design is considered as important purchase criterion, which increases both the driving joy and the resale value. The BMW X5 owes its outstanding position in this area of a fundamental Design strategy, which is used with the organization of all vehicles of the BMWS Group. Part this strategy is a special form of the co-operation, which is called in the BMW Group Design "Collective Intelligence". Thus today market-referred criteria flow ever more requirements of specialists from the ranges aerodynamics, security, ergonomics or suitable for series productionness into the Design development in the automobile industry beside mark and. With internationally the meaning talk DOT award 2007 for outstanding product Design went beyond that also the price for the "Design team of the yearly" to the BMWS Group. |

| Re: X5 gets design award at Frankfurt Autoshow Yep, just my opinion... Did not understood when I saw it for the first time. Rear is a bit better though. But honestly... Bangle was very tired when he designed the new X5, must had danced all night long. He felt it the day after, he had to design a new suv, but big big headache... The result is there, a new car that you can't distinguish from the old one apart that it is bigger... If you find it brilliant, no problem, but no need for a designer to do that... |

These autonis "awards" are given by AMS (German automotive magazine): in a year 16,000 AMS readers voted for "best looking vehicle" in 8 different categories. They could choose between 95 vehicles - in 8 segments, as said before. Here are the results of the voting (I guess an individual reader was able vote as many times as wanted ). - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER Such "awards" based on popular voting of a completely unrepresentative sample of research relevant population are worth a sh!t. I'm only interested in awards given by professional juries at some grand design festival (eg. red dot or IF), or in a surveys results based on representative population sample (eg. BMW owners, or targeted BMW customer base). |

| Re: X5 gets design award at Frankfurt Autoshow M. Bangle commits the X5, he was not really himself, and then we he saw it for the first time he said: "Oh s$$$t what's that? Is it he new one? Did I do that, really? Oh no no no, I have to do something or I'm fired this time... I should stop drinking so much..." He went to his boss and said "Hey, Boss, I've got an idea, why not creating a new suv based on the X5, but with a design on it? No, no, it' not that the new X5 looks exactly the same as the old one.... No, I... Yes, OK, it does, but... Yes, but I could design a new one, we would say it is a SUC, or SAV, or SUD I don't know, and this time I really will design it, OK?" So, here you are, the X6. THAT is a beautiful suv. BMW needed it because the X5, well, is noting really new I would say... Just my opinion of course. ![]() |
