In-Car Sound Decibels

I wasn't sure what my next thread would be, but last night when i was watching a video of the Zonda (in-car) the idea struck me in the head.

I thought it would be interesting for everyone to know how noisy or quiet vehicles are at speed. Magazines used were Road & Track, Auto Zeitung, Car & Driver and AutoCar and i'm not completley finished the list. There are four categories: two of which will be in the first post.

Re: In-Car Sound Decibels

Great thread!

I would've liked to see Koenigsegg in all the lists since I've heard they are very noisy!

Seeing Lexus at the top of every list is not surprising. My mom's friend has had a few of them and I've gotten a ride in his LS430 and on good tarmac, you barely hear the road. And yeah, I said road because you can never hear the engine!

Great for a luxury car and especially if the car has 11 speakers

Thanks

As would I! As we can see it's the loudest at 113 km/h The CC8S was tested by AutoCar and i'll need the scans of the orignal test conducted by AutoCar, sadly they only list the 113 km/h figure when you go to their site. I had the full data sheet for the Zonda C12S 7.3

Agreed, with numerous speaker units it's a plus to be able to hear each one crystal clear. Lexus has always been good at that, even with my dad's 194 LS400 and SC400. Both vehicles were spooky silent.

Good point

I suppose it's about what you want, for a Sports car the Zonda's figures are perfect for me and the E39 M5's figures for a saloon are perfect for me.

Re: In-Car Sound Decibels

Very cool thread Bruce.
Damn, the 996 GT3 seem to be quite a noisy car, though it is a bit suprise that the Zonda isn't quite as noisy as its counter parts.
