Oil change on an 06 SL500

is it possible to use an oil extractor to do an oil change on a North American spec SL500. This car has no dipstick-where would you stick the tube to get the oil out of the pan? the filter cannister?

Re: Oil change on an 06 SL500

Well im no expert, but on my CL55, and my friends SL55 we both used Mobil to change the oil int he cars, and simply bought in our own filters, i guess they used standard tools, i didnt see them get too sophisticated nor creative. My guess is you might be able to get it done plain and simple.

I dont know if '06's are different or special in any way specifically towards the question your asking about, wish i could be more of service... Best of calling a local MB dealer and just ask a service rep to answer your question. Best way to get the right response for sure. Dont want to make any mistakes on that sweet ride!

I also don't have that knowledge but would be interested in hearing how you did it, so please keep us posted. I'd like to know how you drained it and more importantly, how did you know when you had the correct amount of oil there? (Since there is no dipstick)

Yes you can remove the oil with an oil extractor. The dipstick tube in on the back side of the engine on the right side, you can see it real easy if remove the air filter housing.
