Audi breakdown?

A workmate told me about her friends that were driving home to Sweden from Croatia in their 2001 Audi A6. They stopped to eat in Münich and when they got back into the car and started it up smoke came from the steering wheel and then from under the bonet. Mechanics said that it would take 4 days to fix the car. The story about them is long from there on.

I was shocked to hear about an Audi just breaking down like this because from what I've heard Audi quality is pretty much flawless.

What do you guys think? And what can be the caus?

Heh, yeah these events are quite expected... In tropical regions like in my country, BMWs flaming up to ashes is common.

Re: Audi breakdown?

Last year while i was on vacation i saw a brand new C class (i could tell from the licence plates) at the side of the road. I asked the owner who was next to the car what happened and he told me that the car's engine suddenly ceased to work.
I guess that could happen to any car.

Re: Audi breakdown?

Guys, times of flawless german quality are, sadly, behind us..
Truth is,you can´t be sure on anything when you buy a car. It´s like beting on football when you expect promised quality from car.You never now what is next, where to expect malfunction..Just remember E46 problem with brake pedal,MB E,S and C-class many problems..Should I go on??I belive you get the picture
