Angel Labs has developed a new type of internal combustion engine known as the “Massive Yet Tiny” engine. It “has the potential to replace all the existing internal combustion engines and jet engines,” according to the inventor. It reportedly has a power to weight ratio 40 times higher than a regular internal combustion engine. A 14-inch, 150-pound MYT would reportedly have the same power as a 32 cylinder diesel engine — putting out 858 horsepower.

This is amazing stuff, compression ratios of 70:1, the entire engine acts as a heat sink and a radiator. It is both air and oil cooled. Modular: add another ME unit and you'll get power to weight ratio of 40:1.
This is one of those cases when one thinks: Why couldn't someone think of this sooner. Just a different design. Really amazing stuff....

While this engine may have potential, automobile manufacturers are more than unlikely to pick it up as it would mean throwing away billions of dollars in conventional engine development and marketing. While it may produce a great deal of power we don't know much aside from that. How fuel efficient is it? How durable is it? How often do you need to rebuilt the engine? etc.....
