Find out the brand or w/e of the one you bought or ask the shop that installed the tint. I don't know how to tell other than that.

Re: Radar Detectors. The best?

So is the V1 the best overall?
I'm now seriously looking for one myself. Some speed limits on roads that are wider than some expressways/freeways and far from residential zones are ridiculously set too slow, usually packed with speed traps and probably left on purpose by the counties to generate income to maintain the local courts and some of those jobs.

Sad but probably true, especially here in Florida. I think the Valentine is a great device, however, people go between the Escort and the Valentine and they both seem to be up to par and/or the best.

This is the exact same problem we have here in Greece in some roads...

Re: Radar Detectors. The best?

I now really need to buy one of these pronto. Escort or V1? Anyone know if they are legit in Florida?

I can't believe this, I just got another ticket (last time I drove my wife's car), I feel like Sammy Hagar in that song, 'I can't drive 55!" or pretty soon like The Eagles/Joe Walsh "My Maserati does 185... I lost my license now I don't drive". Sheesh for years I been driving my car (E-Class) and at same speeds/roads and I would never get stopped (sleeper car) now I get stopped so the officer gets to touch and drool over the car (as I see him walking toward me from rear-view mirror) and keeps staring at it like he just saw a convertible UFO and he's having a close encounter of the 3rd kind.
I'm getting tired of this, I'm beginning to see the car from a different perspective now... my wife has no problems (and she drives it most of the times), the car is pure pose, for show, so she drives it just right... I'm like Hagar and many of you here, I'm a petrol head, lead foot, I like speed and I can't stand the ridiculous speed limits we have on some very-safe-and-wide-roads. I'm convinced it is a legal conspiracy to feed the system. Darn speed traps!

...Maybe I should take her car to a track so I can floor it without worrying about those darn buzzards with speed detectors hiding behind the bushes.

Re: Radar Detectors. The best?

There is absolutley no way to avoid highway patrol wether you have a radar or not, i constantly get pulled over in NJ and i own a V1! They simply dont turn it on till you pass them, and at that point no radar will be of help.

Secondly they approximate the speed and dont turn on their radar at all. Pull you over and asay your going 80mph. Cant prove them wrong no matter what.

I like my radar, but overall i had better luck without it....

Good luck on your purchase.... The radar wont stop that LEAD FOOT of yours.

But to comfort you, i have the same problem, so dont feel bad, just be careful when you know where they are usually hiding... Other than that get an out of state license so you dont accumulate points.

Re: Radar Detectors. The best?

They are perfectly legal in Florida, and if you want to confirm that they are I think you can check on their website.

The other day I drove from where I live to Naples in my civic, which typically is about a 2 hr drive (driving conservatively). I have to say that I was lucky, but I drove well consicous of who was around me. I was driving back saying to myself a million times "I wish I had gotten the V1!!." Truthfully I don't think it would have helped much, but I was pushing 100mph in some of those roads. I never went over that.

I think I may purchase a V1, I know they are good, but Alex is right. You can have better luck without one if you drive conservatively. The detector won't always save you, and truthfully having it may make you even more guilty of speeding if you get pulled over, because why else would you have it?
