Modifying the engine

What do you think are the best parts to use when tuning a strong engine??
I personally prefer Techart's way of doing it (turbochargers and intercoolers, special aluminum intakes, sport air filters, TechArt stainless-steel exhaust system with integrated high-performance catalysts).
Also, I love Garret turbochargers (often used on Supra).
I expect your answers, I want to learn more about auto-technics, so be free to post your answers.

Another question, when you could pick any car to tune, which would it be?? (considering the engine)

tnx, Dominic

Re: Modifying the engine

i have minimal experience, but i can say the way Kleemann/Renntech etc. do it, id proper.

Stage 1 - ECU upgrade (reprogramming to give the engine max potential at peak levels)
If supercharged smaller crankshaft pulley, in engine is naturally aspirated, than adding a supercharger is ideal.

Stage 2 - Replacing Headers.

From what i know, these are the most potent ways of getting most out of a high powered engine.

Exhaust and air filters are minimal, though Kleem. will also replace you intake system with K&N Air Filter system with the stage 1 upgrade!

As an example this adds just over 100hp to your car in total. I think that is really impressive, personally.

Garret is great for alot more than superchargers, they will also upgrade a Continental GT with ECU and get over 70hp out of it. Thats big!

Well that's easy, the engine is the RB26DETT and the car is a Nissan Skyline GT-R34. Somehow, Nissan just managed to get everything right on that engine. It can reliably produce 600 hp and I've heard of a couple of 800 and even 1000 hp examples.

Turbocharged cars are absolutely the way to go for aftermarket tuning potential.

I'm in agreement about this being a great engine (along with a great car).

In terms of tuners, for German cars I hold Ruf in high esteem and is probably the best German tuner I can think of.
For Japan, I'd say HKS comes to mind as a good company.
I don't know enough about American tuners to recommend a good one.

For other engines, obviously the engine from the last Toyota Supra (don't remember code) is hyped up as easy to get a lot of power out of along with the 4G63 engine most recently in the Mitsubishi Evolutions.

Oh yes of course, for 911 aftermarket tuning Ruf are the berries!

Re: Modifying the engine

My top 3 choices to tune would be:
1.Toyota Supra
2.Nissan Skyline R34
3.Porsche 911 Turbo
