| Re: Top Gear-First Drive Subaru Impreza WRX STi I'm beginning to appreciate the new Impreza. It doesn't look that bad and hell, it may even pass off as a minor Q-car compared to the Evo. |

I like the exterior design of the STi version, it looks purposeful without the over styled aggressiveness of the old car. The proportions are also better thanks to the reduced overhangs.

| Re: Top Gear-First Drive Subaru Impreza WRX STi I saw the EVO X in person at the motor show, and I think the styling is too nose heavy, the STi has a more balanced look, if only the bother to change the very aftermarket looking tail lights. |

| Re: Top Gear-First Drive Subaru Impreza WRX STi I'd just wish that FHI gave the rest of the free-thinking world the option of "European-coloured tail lights". I'm growing more and more unfond of the horrid clear lens items. Ugh. Put some bloody red in them for mercy's sake man! Cheapens the car in my opinion. And, when you're taking on the best selling European hatches that have brand cachet and quality oozing in bucketloads you can't afford to cheapen the perceived image your new entrant in any way. Otherwise, new STi is a grand effort. Pity we don't get this amazing 2.0 litre outside of Japan. |

The 2.0 engine has - in particular: forged conrods and pistons, hollow inlet valves, sodium filled exhaust valves and a twin-scroll turbo. So the engine has lower reciprocating masses, a higher tolerance for rpm and temperature and it boosts quicker. The 2.5 litre engine is just a uprated version (with different, single arc-scroll turbocharger and intercooler) of the ubiquitous 2.5 turbo that does the business in regular WRX's, Legacy GT's and Forester XT's. It's a good engine, make no mistake, but the 2.0 STi mill is a work of art. And it's strong (read robust) like mother Russia.

| Re: Top Gear-First Drive Subaru Impreza WRX STi OMG!!"It revs cleanly and quickly to 8000rpm and it goes very, very hard, like every STi should." a turbo engine revving to 8000? never seen before...bmw has no excuse to make a twin turbo 8250rpm V10 |

| Re: Top Gear-First Drive Subaru Impreza WRX STi It revs cleanly and quickly to 8000rpm awesome, then BMW can give us a M5 with Turbo and redline 8250 rpm ![]() |
