I hope they don't put that in the production version.
Don't call the whole car ricer just because of generic "Altezza" styled lights. This car kicks most cars ass on track and leaves just about everyone except for the EVO off track in the dust...literally. When it comes to Econo box monsters, no one in the world can touch the Japanese, not even "teh gemanz".

Re: New Subaru Impreza WRX STI Thread

hmmmmm.......looks much better than the standard Impreza. Compared to the Evo X, it's not as boxy and you get the convenience of a hatchback.

Does anybody know what gearbox options there will be for the STi? We know the Evo X will offer a brand new DSG type of gearbox.

Subaru are traditionalists...I think they'll go for manual (hopefully a 6sp and not 5sp), the only way I see Subaru having a DSG is if they develop one with Toyota.

Re: New Subaru Impreza WRX STI Thread

I saw the first advertisement of the new Impreza on TV today! But it was only the base version. I guess the WRX will take a time to arrive here...

Subaru's not officially revealing the new Impreza WRX STI until October 24 (place your bets on who'll blow that embargo to smithereens before then), but it has released a teaser shot of the car's rear end. (We showed you the - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER last week.) With the number of high-quality spy photos being churned out now, there's little mystery left anyway, but we'll take what we can get from Subaru. The new shot, - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER, is very dark. We lightened it up a bit so you can better see the fender bulges, dual twin-tipped exhaust outlets, and the roof wing. Between this and the spy shots flying around, it's looking as if the STI will boast an appropriately muscled-up appearance compared to the far more reserved-looking WRX. it will be shown to the public for the first time at next month's Tokyo Motor Show. We'll be on hand for the festivities.

Although it makes its official entrance at next month's Tokyo Motor Show, these spy shots show off the range-topper in its new hatchback livery.
The performance model is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-litre boxer engine tuned to develop more than 220 kW and close to 400 Nm of torque.
It will initially be mated with Subaru's existing six-speed manual gearbox.
However, it is reported that a new automated manual will be added about a year later to allow the STI to compete more closely with arch-rival Mitsubishi's Lancer Evo X. First units of the Evo only touch down in SA in the latter half of 2008...
Until then, the super Scooby adds a specially developed bonnet and grille, a wider front bumper with bigger air intakes, flared wheelarches housing its 18-inch alloys and a Brembo brake system.
Engineers have reportedly also revised Subaru's legendary all-wheel drive system. A more compact double wishbone rear suspension arrangement also ensures better handling characteristics.
Inside the cabin, this Impreza gets a new pair of bucket seats for the front occupants and overall trim quality is said to be improved too.
Though final dates remain unknown, Subaru's local office has confirmed that its first STI shipments will be arriving in SA early next year.
