- ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER Click to enlarge That's what the British magazine Auto Express is - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER. According to them, the Woking, Surrey-built droptop will be unveiled within the next six months. Based on the Vision SLR Roadster concept car (above), the supposed production version will share its coupe sibling's power and performance credentials. Prospective customers should expect to have their wallets lightened by around £350,000 ($667K USD). Assuming the information is accurate, it's a welcome development. By the time the ragtop appears, at least three years will have passed since the production coupe's launch, and save for the recent - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER variant, nothing has really changed. A convertible SLR should have sex appeal to spare and will re-energize the motoring press, enthusiasts, and the well-heeled jet-setters who find themselves in the enviable position to buy one. Stay tuned. Thanks for the tip, Omar! [Source: Auto Express}

Re: Report: SLR Roadster "well on its way to production" I have been waiting for this for a very long time. Although I am not the biggest fan in the world of the SLR, this roadster is amazing. BTW, how well has the SLR been selling?

Re: Report: SLR Roadster "well on its way to production" This should help MB sell the remain SLRs that they are under contract for from Mclaren. I would say we'll see this at Geneva? M

Re: Report: SLR Roadster "well on its way to production" I thought the SLR's shell structure was never designed to be build into a convertible. I discinctly recall Mercedes engineers express sadness that the SLR "can never be a convertible." I wonder what conpromise has been allowed in order to make this model happen. Also, It would be a serious upset in my opinion if this ragtop is indeed a rag top.

Re: Report: SLR Roadster "well on its way to production" Yeah I too remember something like that being said back at the intro of the SLR. Oh I know this won't be a folding hardtop so get ready to be upset I think. I doubt the money would have been spent to develop a hardtop and it doesn't seem like there has been enough time to do so. This is going to be a "ragtop" I think. M

Re: Report: SLR Roadster "well on its way to production" I just got word from my MB rep that the SLR production will cease. They have flooded the market. We've had our SLR since December.

Mercedes SLR McLaren Convertible To Be Unveiled Within The Next Six Months? ![]() Well ladies and gentlemen, let me first apologize for the lack of updates yesterday. Due to a problem with our servers, we were, as I'm sure you noticed, unable to publish any stories for your reading entertainment; thankfully, however, we've located the problem and have corrected it... at least we think we have. So now that you know what we were up to yesterday, let's get straight into the Mercedes news, starting with a couple stories we weren't able to cover due to the afore-mentioned technical difficulties. First up is an article sent to us by our good friend Jinx, in which Auto Express is reporting that Mercedes will be unveiling its new SLR McLaren convertible within the next six months. Rumors have been circulating about the drop-top variant for a few months already, but Auto Express now states the SLR convertible is well on its way to production. The article then goes on to elaborate that the new model will retain the same characteristics of the current model, including its 626bhp V8, and that pricing (in England) will weigh in at £350,000, compared to the current SLR's £317,610 price tag. We'll keep you posted if we hear anything new; in the meantime, head over to - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER to check out the full article for yourself.
