While checking our inbox one last time before heading out for the night, we stumbled upon an email from our good friend Carlos over at - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER In his email, Carlos pointed us to some spy photos his website ran today showing the new Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren testing in Sierra Nevada, Spain.

Although there's still no official confirmation from Mercedes, Auto Motor und Sport's - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER that the SLR will be upgraded as early as September appear to be more fact than fiction.

Seems like that extra lip in the front spolier would actually increase drag. I might be making a mis-judgement there.

I've noticed something that I don't like about the SLR, the panel fits are very sloppy. There are gaping spaces between the body panels on the production cars too not just the prototype pictured here in this thread.

I don't know if sloppy is the word, but I agree with you 100% Merc1, the panel gaps are definetly larger than all other MB's. I had noticed it before and saw it once again at my dealer yesterday which had an SLR in the showroom. I don't know why this is the case though....

That looks great. SLR is growing on me, the car also looks stuning in real life!

Well maybe sloppy is a harsh word, but its pretty much true especially when you consider this is a 400K Mercedes that is hand built in a state of the art facility. The build should be perfect. I've noticed the same thing with the hoods on several MBs, not just the SLR. The new S seems to be the only MB with perfect panel fits all around.
