GCF Coverage of the facelifted SL55 and SL65

GermanCarFans.com presents initial details and pics of the newly facelifted AMG SL's. Y'know, no matter how familiar we are with this car one can't deny that this has to be one of the most special Mercedes ever. This is one classy machine and an SL55 with 380 kW and 720 Nm would do fine thanks...

Is it just me or does the front apron of the SL55 look more elegant than that of the SL65?

It's cars like this that prove that maybe Mercedes-Benz hasn't lost all that much of the plot after all.
SL: There's nothing like it.

Re: GCF Coverage of the facelifted SL55 and SL65

you said mb's lost of the plot?? why this??

I like both fronts....but the new for the sl55 is a great improvement!

theses walls are hot as hell!!!

we have the technicals issues to the power gain of the v8k now!

Quote:
The enhanced AMG 5.5-litre V8 supercharged engine at the heart of the SL 55 AMG is equipped with a new, higher-speed supercharger compressor and a larger throttle valve to optimise the fresh-air supply. In addition, the installation of an even more efficient engine management unit has boosted the output of the AMG V8 powerplant from 368 kW/500 hp to 380 kW/517 hp, while the peak torque has been increased from 700 to 720 Nm. The new SL 55 AMG accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds (outgoing model: 4.7 seconds) and goes on to reach an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.

Absolutely stunning! The SL is just timeless. The SL55 looks like it is going to go on a few more years. I'm starting to think the current SL will never see the 6.2L N/A AMG V8.

Well unless they're going to turbocharge it to at least 560hp and more torque than the SC 5.5L V8 I agree. In naturally aspirated form a SL63 would be slower than the SL55 I think. I think the 5.5L V8 was kept in response to customer wishes worldwide. This is afterall the engine that put AMG and incidently the SL55 on the map in the hp race.

Sentimentally speaking, I couldn't agree with you more, though we both know that that's not necessarily practical.

See, even hard-core BMW fans appreciate the SL for what it is... that car is HOT baby!

Im a bmw nut but not a hard-core bmw fan, if I was there would be only BMW and nothing else. Im a car entushiast and I appreciate all car brands although I favor BMW in most cases. If I like something then I need to be honest, honesty last longer.
