Mercedes SL Black Series (Spy pics & info)

A prototype for the Mercedes SL Black Series has been spotted on public roads around the Nürburgring, in preparation for some hot laps later this week. This is the most wicked SL ever conceived, with optimum performance its top priority.

Huge flared fenders are likely created with ultra-light carbon fibre, to reduce weight and to accommodate this car's enormous wheels and tires. The roof on this SL has been converted into a fixed coupe roof, also crafted in carbon fibre to lower the Black Series' center of gravity and further reduce weight. Exactly what engine mods have been employed here are uncertain, but you can be sure it's insanely powerful.

Our spies will be hot on the tail of the SL Black Series, so keep an eye out for more pics from the Ring.

Bumbaclot!!! Mercedes is on the offense, the AMG line up is going to look sick in the coming years.

Holy crap this car is scary!!!! It just frightened me, I felt of my chair and took refuge under my desk... Good Lord...My all body is shaking for fear...

This is going to be a cool car and probably my favorite Benz. But the rearwing need to be more discreet.

Do you guys think they will wait for the facelift before we see a BS?

If you take a close look you'll notice that the rear wing is retractable just like the SLR/Veyron/Carrera GT/911.
Look at the spared space on the reartrunklid for the rear wing.

Yes of course. We can see the new lights and new front despite the camo, and it would be illogical to present a BS before the facelift.

The car is gonna be a rocket, that's for sure, if we judge from the CLK Black Series. But isn't it a bit late for such a model as the SL is very close to the end of it's life cyrcle?

and this will be one helluva machine..as the SL is not really a bad handling car to start with
and we all know that Black Seriesizing (lol is that a word) a car reults in dramatic improvements

I dont want to know the price of this car. More expensive than SL65, yeah probably. Would I take it over SLR? Hell yeah!!!

The SL is already my favorite high-end MB. The Black Series version is going to be out of this world!
