Spy Photos: Mercedes SL63 AMG

The next MB SL-Class looks to have big changes on the way. In addition to a radically redesigned front-end -- comprised of a big ol' new grille and CLS-style boomerang headlights--the new SL's AMG package will get what the folks at KGP are calling the "increasingly prolific" 6.2-liter V8 engine. The engine, when packaged with Mercedes' 7G-TRONIC seven-speed transmission, generates 465 lb-ft. or torque and 525-horsepower in the S63 AMG and in the C63 AMG, the same set-up provides 457-hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. The KGP spy shooters expect the new AMG "Sport Leicht" to be endowed with power ratings closer to the S-class, although their sources report "packaging restrictions" might limit those power numbers a wee bit.

yep its starting to shape up..i think it will be superb in the end..
looks like a new looks for the AMG package..i think i detect round foglights ala C63 under that camo

I wonder since the SL obviously has a few more years to go, whether or not we'll see a Black Series version now? I think the facelifted front and rears are going to look just right. All the proportions seems correct in these photos.

What!?!?!? Are MB die hards willing to except anything from the storied automaker now days!?!?!?! This car looks so disproportioned it's not even funny. The front end looks totally at odds w/ the rear, which is what, almost five years old now?!?!?! I hope this a mule for the R231(or whatever the new chassis code will be).

You don't even know what the final product looks like yet so what are you talking about? Going by the pics it doesn't seem out of proportion to me. You haven't seen the final design yet so spare us the old/new car rants.

Someone's taken an overdose of uptight pills tonight. Take it easy man, I'm going based off of what I'm seeing here int he pics and the way it's looking so far isn't very pleasant, to me at least.
