R-Class Goes on Sale in the U.S.

The R-Class was officially lauched on Sept 14 and managed to sell 386 units in the last 2 weeks of Sept.

Hopefully sales will pick up dramatically.

Any members have an R-Class or have test driven one yet?

Yep, they're out there already. I'm seeing more and more of them everyday. I think they'll be a hit.
I think a couple of our fellow members have driven it.

Re: R-Class Goes on Sale in the U.S.

R-Class for 2007:

R320 CDI - 221hp
R350 - 268hp
R450 - 335hp
R550 - 382hp

Sound about right for the U.S. lineup anyone?

I still do not know the reason for Jack going for the S instead of the R

Your line up anticipates the R450 and R550, at least in the US. The US has the R500 which is the 302HP V8 engine and the R350 which is 268HP V6. The newer 4 valves will undoubtedly be offered but later in 2006. The R320CDI is probably a mid 2006 release.

A long story but basically I decided not to get the R for personal reasons (not related to the R) and then my friendly MB salesman called me with a deal I couldn't refuse and I didn't...:-) Always wanted an S sedan and this was my chance to get into one.

Re: R-Class Goes on Sale in the U.S.

I'm awaiting the November sales numbers due to be released later on today. The R-Class sold 386 units in the last 2 weeks or Sept, and 930 units in Oct in the U.S. for a total of 1316 units. I hope they sold at least 1K for November.

Re: R-Class Goes on Sale in the U.S.

I finally saw one of these out on the open road. Whoa, it looks a whole lot better than I would have imagined. Low, wide and very sleek. Funky, but overall good looking. What a surprise. The bigger wheels are a must, as they are for the M-Class also. I hope this new GL looks as good on the road.
