Audi confirms Q5, A5 and S3 launches

After weeks of speculation and reports in the motoring media, Audi has now confirmed the launches of three important new models.

The Q5, a medium-sized SUV,will go into production at Ingolstadt, Bavaria in 2008. Audi chairman Prof. Dr Martin Winterkorn said at a board meeting: "The Q5 will be an overtly sporty vehicle that will add an important product to the Audi model range. The Audi Q5 will take us a big step closer to vehicle sales of 1.4million per year, a target that we have set ourselves for 2015." Audi is to invest around 300million euros in Ingolstadt, and employ 1,700 people to build the Q5.

The A5 coupe will also be built in Ingolstadt; this will go into production earlier, in the first half of 2007. Meanwhile, the three-door S3 will go on sale in the second half of this year. This will have the same 2.0 TFSI turbocharged engine as the Golf GTI, but boosted to 272bhp; it'll be four-wheel drive, with the VW Haldex system as in the Golf rather than Quattro.

STUPID!!!! [S]3 Half vw / I don't bother so much beacuse I do not like the [S] car's their just half super cars and half on the way to the top!
If the [RS]3 isn't coming with quattro

and the real topic - The Q5 really need som very VERY good looks when it will be launched! but it's an Audi so of course, It will! ...

that is more like an A6 Allroad than a Q5! a Q5 should not look so similar to A6 Avant.

Well, no need to be that critical. A3's are engineered to be mass market front wheel drive cars from the outset and hence employ a transverse engine layout putting most of the weight over the front wheels. That's why the Haldex AWD system is used instead of quattro - which for now is a Torsen LSD installation suited solely to longitudinally aligned engine/drivetrain configurations. There's nothing wrong with the Haldex AWD system - it may not be Mitsu EVO-perfect but it's an effective, reliable and intelligent system.

What does this have to do with Q5? It's a S4 photoshop with A6 front lights and RS4 wheels, I doubt next A4 will look anything like this!
