I've got some new ones from Auto Zeitung - Ruf RT12 ......
Thanks Bruce! Great pictures and good information as usual

The Gemballa really looks good. Often the Gemballas seem a bit overdone but not this one.

With the current models I think I prefer the looks of the Rt12 though. The Road & Track numbers aren't all that shabby either for the Rt12:

0-60mph in 3.2 secs
0-100mph in 6.6 secs
0-125mph in 9.7 secs
0-145mph in 13.75 secs

EDIT: I have noticed that the R&T numbers seem to be lower than the other magazines....

I remember when those figures were released, but had only seen the 0-60 and 0-100, not the others so thanks what an awesome car

Now if only Sport Auto would get one.. for the supertest!!

Re: Porsche Tuners Picture Thread

Well I never really like the concept of tuned sports cars like the 911. But if I must pick one I like RUF the most becuase they do not look that much out of the ordinary from factory Porsches and they pack the extra juice.

Those rims look like the top of the alu tubes Sadam bought for his yellow cake.

Re: Porsche Tuners Picture Thread

ree,

Thanks for the pictures

Since you are from Germany, would you be able to comment on the respective standings or levels of popularity/esteem of the different German Porsche Tuners in Germany itself.

The reason I'm interested in this is the fact that I have only hearsay kind of information about this and would like to know if there were any statistics collected there that could give us an indication of how these tuners are viewed in Germany.

The hearsay info that I have is that Gemballa and Techart, the two Stuttgart neighbourhood companies are the popular ones, with RS Tuning being regarded as THE racing oriented tuning company, with Reinhold Schmirler (who used to be Alois Ruf's engine guy) on the technical side (The Good) and his brother running the marketing (The Bad). Is it true that RS Tuning is the only tuner in Germany that enjoys collaboration with Porsche (in the area of racing)?
I understand that RUF is considered more of a commercial venture than hard-core tuning company there, whereas in the US, thanks to Road&Track support and Alois Ruf's personal interest and attention in the American market, RUF probably enjoys the most success of the German tuning companies. This dates back to the time when the importing of 911s were halted to the US until 1986. During this time RUF was actively filling the gap here. Of course by now, RUF is technically not a mere tuner anymore since it is a first tier car manufacturer in Germany.

But anyhow, if you have any information about this it would be great to hear the "German perception" of the German Porsche tuners.
