Veyron will try to break the record?

One Croatian portal says that in middle of November Bugatti will try to break CCR's record on Ehra Lessien test track in Wolfsburg near VW's plant. The track is 9km long straight and they say that the date for that event has been determined. CCR managed to run 396 km/h and Bugatti says they want to achieve claimed 406 km/h...

BTW - The testing staff at my company had the pleasure of driving a Veyron at our facility a couple weeks ago. Our lead tester was nothing short of astonished.

Here's what he had to say about the Bugatti:

"...What is the driving experience? It seems to be extremely docile. There is nothing difficult about it. It is so well designed that even a grandma could go 210. It does not spin the tires, it is not loud and it is very stable. Someone could say that a Ferrari F40 would be a lot more fun to drive. But they would be missing [Name Deleted]'s point.

Our own [Name Deleted], will tell you that the point of this car is that VW managed the impossible. A car that destroys all common sense. Think about it. It accelerates almost as fast as an Formula 1 car and its top speed is higher than most F1 cars achieve. It does it on street tires that do not wear out in 50 miles. It takes 37 seconds to reach 230 mph and needs less than 10 seconds to stop from that speed! It always starts, everything works, it does not break down (the test car had 20,000 abusive miles on it). It accelerates as hard at 150 mph as it does at 10. The acceleration rate does not slow down much until you are at 220 mph.

The engineering behind it is simply amazing: to cool the engine down the system contains 14 gallons! A Corolla holds less than 2! The transmission is a 7 speed DSG(VW's direct shift). It uses All wheel Drive. The custom Michelins cost only $8,000. The wheels cost $52,000. When the car brakes from a high speed it develops -2.0g. The rear wing/airbrake is responsible for -0.6g of braking force...

This car will be the fastest production car ever. And the easiest to use. It is a milestone that will always shine bright."

Whatever the Veyron does... the CCX will probably beat it after.

I didn't know the CCR had driven on Ehra Lessien, hm...

However the Veyron will beat that easily! Even if the CCX beats it after that without breaking down I'd still chose the Veyron.

I can see the Veyron is a masterpiece in engineering and all that, but I'm not really into it. I should be everyone's dream car, but certainly isn't mine. I may sound like a stupid BMW fan now, but I'd take an M5 over the Veyron anyday, even an S65!

The Veyron is just OTT, in everyway! I don't like the styling and would perfere it to be more involving to drive!

I heard CCR isn't really good at handling, I don't know about CCX!

I'm baffled by those of you who aren't just head over butt droolin' for this car. It delivers the entire performance & luxury package in the most extreme way possible, and actually delivers. Really - it's like a car you or I would have dreamt up if we were asked to design the most crazy, inane thing imaginable.

I didn't know the CCR had driven on Ehra Lessien, hm... However the Veyron will beat that easily! Even if the CCX beats it after that without breaking down I'd still chose the Veyron.
