GTA7.5 - It was BMW that pioneered the scientific application of ergonomics in car interiors - I agree with you that the S class is probably more user friendly but lets not go overboard here - next you'll be telling us that Daimler-Benz invented the wheel.

What garbage - the A8 is every bit as refined as the Merc.

Well this sure puts me in my place - LOL

I'm sorry you think I'm just an uneducated idiot GTA7.5 but although I would agree with you that the W221's interior is of superior build quality, the overall appearance of it's interior is quite banal when compared to the big BMW.

Well I'm not hugely excited about the Lexus - but it is extraordinarily good value for money when compared to it's German rivals.

Re: Kings Battle - S-class, LS, 7-series, A8 and XJ

I've always ranked the 7er's dash absolute last in this segment and these pics do nothing to change that opinion. It looks way too bulky and obtrusive, and for some reason reminds me of an American SUV. The absolutely hideous steering wheel only adds to the effect. Sadly, much of the same goes for the new S, but it is somehow smoother and therefore more appealing. The steering wheel is not a thing of beauty much better than many of Merc's recent offerings. I'd even rank the Lexus - which is nothing special and looks like it belongs in a lower-class car - over the two. The Audi's dash is the only one I find really appealing.

You gotta be kidding me... the only thing on the 7er's dash is the climate control system and a few essential buttons for the radio. Without those, you would really have to use the Idrive for absolutely everything. Wait, I forgot the phone that is stashed in the dashboard and the 2 storage compartments.

While you are criticizing the 7er's dash and praising how the S class's is so well engineered and has been studied by psychologist and what not, isn't it kind of strange that it is so similiar to the 7, yet the 7 came first....

which one is the chicken, and which one is the egg?

Personally, I like the Audi's interior very much. Oh almost forgot, do you guys think that that clock in the middle of the dashboard works for the Benz? I think it looks terrible.

I've always hated it - it's nothing more than a concession to mediocre bourgeois taste - in my humble (and some say idiotic) opinion.

No one voted for the Jaguar? The Germans and the Lexus are all futuristically designed while the Jaguar is just CLASSY and TRADITIONAL looking and quite sexy. I still voted for the S-Class though.

Apart from the steering wheel, that is definitely one of the things I hate about the S's interior.

Someone who has been in the car explain to me... how do you control the climate system without going to the COmmand system. More specifically, how do you turn the fan power up and down? I only see a fan power button, but how do you control the strength?

Those two buttons on each side with the little fans graphic on them control the strength.

How though? Here's 2 options
1. It's seperate climate control... one of the left for the driver, one on the right for passenger. But how do you change the strength?

2. The one on the left is to lower and the one on the right is to increase... but that doesn't make sense because on such a highend car, there's bound to be seperate climate control.

Roberto & warot: those buttons ur refering to are not buttons u only press , they are moved up/down to increase/decrease the fan speed .. like old volume controller in older MB models
