Top 10 Out of Production Cars of the Last 30 Years

This is a list to celebrate and recall your favorite 10 cars that are out of production from the last 30 years. Nothing current production or produced before 1977. Nothing about some great car from the past that no one here has ever driven or remembers when it was in its hey-day. My list:

1. Mercedes-Benz E500 (W124) - Quite possibly my favorite Mercedes-Benz of all time. True tank-like build quality, unique looks and some Porsche know-how.

2. Mercedes-Benz SL (R129) - The only other older Mercedes that compares to the W124 E-Class for me. Still beautiful today, this car was technical marvel back in 1989 when it was introduced with many world's firsts.

3. Ferrari 550/575 Marenello - Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. I'll never forget listening to one of these go by. Arguably the best looking Ferrari of its time.

4. Ferrari F355 Spider - A much better car than the 348 that came before it, this was the answer to several cars that dared challenge Ferrari's V8 entry. Did I mention that it IMO looked better than the 360 that followed it?

5. Ferrari 512TR - Ahh...one of the last versions of the of the Testarossa series. The TR was my favorite version of this car. This thing looked the part right up until that awful 512M version came along.

6. BMW 8-Series - Another model from the past that could well be my favorite of a particular brand. Many BMW faithful here don't like this vehicle, but I loved it. Totally unique and exclusive as all getout.

7. Porsche Carrera GT - Stunning performance and engineering and it now qualifies for this list!

8. BMW M5 (E34) - The one with the big ole hairy I6. This and the 535i of the day were some of my favorite BMWs.

9. Ferrari 456M - Arguably the best looking Ferrari of the time frame given for this thread. This was the gentleman's Ferrari.

10. Mercedes-Benz CL (C215) - Another technical knockout upon introduction for Mercedes, stunning looks, a future classic IMO.

Honorable Mention: 2nd Generation Acura Legend GS, Mercedes W126 and W140 S-Classes, Lexus SC400, Nissan 300ZX Turbo (90-96), Audi A6 4.2 (2000-2004) VW Corrado SLC, Aston-Martin Vanquish.

Here we go:

1. BMW 850CSi
2. BMW 635CSi
3. BMW 750Li (E38)
4. BMW E39 M5
5. BMW E46 M3
6. Porsche Carrera GT
7. McLaren F1
8. Mercedes-Benz CL class
9. Aston Martin Vanquish
10. B7 RS4 (if the production really ended, didn't follow this, sorry)

Though i have to admit that it's really hard to pick only 10 cars out of production, there are many more that i really appreciate.

^^ McLaren F1, Bugatti Veyron, Pagani Zonda, Lamborghini Countach 25th anniversary, Porsche 959, Porsche Carrera GT, Ferrari F40, Ferrari Enzo, Mercedes 500SL (R129), Mercedes-Benz 600 (W100).

That's not my official list ....they're just off the top of my head -- some of my Dream cars during my long 34 year old life.

Ah...yes it is that is why I always choose a low number for these types of threads. It forces you to you examine where your loyalities really are.

I've got to say that I think Marcus' list is just fantastic. In fact, I could copy his entire list into my post and be completely happy with the choices.

Nevertheless, here's my list.

Acura Legend Coupe ('95)

BMW Z8 ('01)

BMW 850 CSi ('95)

Honda NSX ('95-'01)

Honda S2000 ('00)

Lexus SC400 ('98)

Pagani Zonda S ('02)

Lotus Esprit V8 Turbo ('01)

Porsche Carrera GT ('04)

Porsche 993 Turbo ('96)

Some of the other vehicles which I wanted to include, but had no room for where the: BMW E34 M5; BMW E39 M5; Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary; Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG W202; Ferrari F40; Ferrari 456GT; Ford GT; Aston Martin V8 Virage ('88); Porsche 959; Porsche 930 Flat-nose and the Lexus LS400 ('94). I think, or at least I hope I haven't forgotten anything.
