Counterintelligence by big corporations!? There is a word that big corporations (automotive as well) possess their own departments of misinformation - kind of counterintelligence services. Such departments and their stuff plant information into the press, media, internet to get their message along, spreading rumours, creating buzz, misleading etc. True or not?

Re: Counterintelligence by big corporations!? Maybe... but if it's true, then BMW are a master at it. First the E90 sedan and that whole fiasco that increased GCF flow by 1000%. Then there's the new E92. That's got a lot of things flowing. I don't think that's a bad of a thing actually. It does create a lot of interest, especially from car enthusiast and steals away a lot of attention from other car manufacturers. It's so funny how the E90 brochure leaked just as the FL A4 came out.

Re: Counterintelligence by big corporations!? Well I would suggest that the vast majority of all the "spy pics" we see are actually released by the companies themselves. Also, I'm always amused at the conspicuous black tape the manufacturers put on their "test cars" as they drive them in populated areas - they are obviously trying to draw attention to the cars and get free press in the car magazines.

Re: Counterintelligence by big corporations!? I'm certain many companies do this to an extent.

Re: Counterintelligence by big corporations!? Almost every car company has (secret) counterintelligence departments and misleading agents. I have a friend that works for Huyndai Hellas and he says that they definitely do it, and the bosses know it! They say it is something common, and that car companies are like all the big international companies!

Re: Counterintelligence by big corporations!? It's no mystery that manufacturers distribute spy pics and unrealistic specs in order to hype their cars before release. I'm sure MB did it with the S-class.

Re: Counterintelligence by big corporations!? I know they do that. As a student I'm learning just how to do that and still feel good about myself.
