| Analysing effect of active electronic systems (ABS, ASR & ESP) - University diploma Hello my dear GCZ community! Some of you may know me for posting a review of my Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI (W204) at the beginning of this year here on this forums. Now I have a personal request for all participants on this forum and first let me explain what it's all about. My brother is finishing University course as a traffic engineer and for his diploma he chose to analyze the active safety systems in passenger motor vehicles. Now one of the things he has to do is complete a survey about the systems and I thought of an internet survey would be a good idea, to get as many data from different people for analyzing. Now we would be really thankful if you would take the time to complete the survey on my personal web site where you can read all about this systems if you are not familiar with them and also click the link that is going to take you to the survey page. The survey is 98 % read and click so only a couple of questions are something short you have to write about. Please only take part in the survey if you are 18+ and have a valid driver's license. I also have to point out that the survey results ARE NOT going to be used for any commercial purposes but only for studying purposes. Here is the link to the site: - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER Kind regards - M. Toni |

| Re: Analysing effect of active electronic systems (ABS, ASR & ESP) - University diplo I finished the survey, if you don''t mind, I like to make 2 suggestions 1. The flow of the question is fine, because research participant can understand that you divided the survey based on ABS, ASR and ESP. I know you have put a lot of work to get the online survey nicely presented, but maybe cross referencing the survey section may provide you a different trend/information. 2. I have been involved in a similar (ugly) situation with my 2fwd car that has ABS/ESR/ESP and a 4wd that has only ABS and ESP. The survey only allowed me to tell 1 story but not the other, one car was involved in an accident, and the other one responded better and saved me. I have come into my conclusions(from my driving experience) that a car that has the 3 safety systems is superior compared to one that hasn't. Another conclusion (if you want to get the best) is buy the star product from the car maker that actually put their money into the car technology research instead of paying royalties to other car maker patented technology. Good luck with the survey. |

The car is really good. I mean I'm not dissapointed with the consumption at all - before I was driving the 320 CDI and it was a lot worse. I'm getting about 6,3 - 6,7L/100km average and that is for an engine of this class and HP very good if not stunning. I mean I really hate all those people who are driving all those Peugeots and Citroens who are rubbing in my face that they have an average of 5,5 - 6L/100 km but they also forget to mention their cars have 105 - 120 HP wich is way less than I have. I also pushed it to 220 - 230 km/h than I thought it was a little to much to go for 250 km/h so I decided not to (I kinda miss the 320 CDI). The thing I don't like is the gear ratio distribution - I mean the car is really mad pulling in 3rd and 4th and also 5th gear but when I push it into 6th gear (manual yeah I know - but I like manuals) it is the shortness of HP that comes into play and the car is really strugling if you start to accelerate from lets say 60 - 90 km/h. The ride is really comfortable and quiet and I also got used to the mirrors. They do not bother me anymore in fact they are quite good when backing up because you see so much more area than before (I never turn around with my head when I back up I allways drive by side mirrors). Overall - Mercedes pulled an ace on this one. I never had so much head turning and admiering with the W203 but with this one it is a different story. Whenever i'm parked at the Hotel or pulling over to a gas station or even driving on the road - It is an attention grabber. Overall when I wrote my review here when i got the car I think I can say it has grown on me more than any previous Merc I had. I like it a lot. The only downage of the car is the price - but than again what would a Mercedes be if it would cost as much as Ford Mondeo - well I'll tell ya - a Ford Mondeo. Good luck on the road mate and many happy miles with yours - M.Toni

But for the point two I do not understand - if you had a 4wd and ESP you automaticlly get the ASR and the ABS (you can't have one with out the other) so my guess is that you ment the ABS + ASR (and not ABS + ESP = not possible). M. Toni
