Crazy Wealth in the Middle East! - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER Another quote from that site's hompepage about Mercedes-Benz' sales during the Dubai autoshow: Mercedes-Benz sold 70 cars, including three Maybach sedans and two Mercedes SLR McLarens, at the Dubai motor show, reported Emirates Today. Johannes Fritz, director, sales and marketing, said the result beat the 48 cars sold at the show two years ago. Ridiculous. M

Re: Crazy Wealth in the Middle East! They must have great sales people at the Dubai Motor Show As I said in the Bugatti post earlier, I wonder if these buyers went to the exposition with the actual intention of buying a car - I would love to be able to afford a new Maybach or Veyron just in case I was in the mood to buy one at a car show ![]()

Re: Crazy Wealth in the Middle East! I think this is expected. I see nothing less than a luxury saloon at every corner in Dubai.

Re: Crazy Wealth in the Middle East! I'm sure they do, if they didn't it would be worth spending millions on being at the autoshow!

Re: Crazy Wealth in the Middle East! Well actually the main purpose (as it was stated in Detroit at least) was to show the cars and get the people in the showrooms, not actually push the sales process at the show itself. Apparently they do it different in Dubai. M

Re: Crazy Wealth in the Middle East! I'm not bitter - well actually I probably am. These people literally fall into money - black gold - while many of their people are living terrible lives in order to subsidise their car fetishes. I just don't understand it. Look at countries like Saudi - the GINI co-efficient there is very high.

Re: Crazy Wealth in the Middle East! Raj, I think it is much like most Western countries. Why are people always so critical of the gap between the rich and poor in Asia and the Middle East, the gap between rich and poor in the US and Europe is vast also. As far as UAE goes, I think you will find that most people are not multi-billionaire oil sheiks, most people are ordinary hard working middle-class or working-class citizens (sorry about using such politically incorrect terms). It is different when there is corruption involved, like in some African countries, but the UAE is a civilized place.
