What a test drive!!!

I just recieved a phone call from a friend. He told me that while he was driving home, a test-drive Scoda Fabia, was in front of him. At some time the front right wheel broke and went off the car, leaving the car on three wheels. The car stopped after 100m, as the weight from the engine didn't leave it with the remaining wheels touching the ground. Both the test driver and the salesman where shocked and scared by this awful expirience. A traffic jam occured last about 30 min, until the road assistance arrived, took some photos and took the car and the naughty wheel.

Guys this is the worst experience you can have when you are thinking of buying a specific car and you see that if you drive it then there is the danger of some part falling off!

What do you think?

That happened in Top Gear as well, with the affordable car race. The front right wheel just popped out in the last corner and the car slid pretty far. Safe to say that if it was in traffic conditions, the person driving would have been screwed.
So I'm guessing the guy won't be getting a Skoda anytime soon then.

probably

I had never heard of anything like this and it sounded a bit funny and strange to me, that's why i posted it. It happend aroung 6pm today in the highway, entering the city. Not that much traffic.

The news also said that a truck driver, almost fell asleep today and hit the front car and continued running for more than 500m with a car stuck in the front, without noticing it!

Re: What a test drive!!!

That's horrible...
Either they'd used the wrong type of bolts or they weren't properly fastened. I think that it's the dealer that's to blame and not Skoda.

Re: What a test drive!!!

There are many things that could be the reason for that happening, so it's not fair to Skoda or the dealer or anything or anyone else to speculate.... For all we know there was sabotage, but despite all of that, I probably wouldn't buy a Skoda if that had happened to me.

Re: What a test drive!!!

I think sleeping while driving may be a common problem. My dad used to sleep on the wheel and I had to wake him up, but no problems now because he sleeps much better at night.

Re: What a test drive!!!

I might not blame Skoda for it, but if I was in one of them and the wheels came off when I was driving in traffic, it will definitely leave a sour taste in my mouth.

Well at least your father wasn't deliberately being irresponsible.

I've seen people eating a meal with a knife and fork, reading a map covering most of the windscreen, and reading a novel, all while driving - there really are some idiots on the road. An Arab women, who lives near me, prefers not to wear her burka when she is driving her car....so she has Venetian blinds on every window.

I have heard of wheels coming off a car before - it happened to a friend's father - he was nuts and went back to the mechanic and smashed some windows at the garage - rather undignified behavior I think, but he was very angry.

Yeah I've heard of this before on even very expensive cars, so it's probably the dealer's fault as if this were truly an issue on Skodas we would know about it.
