The real K.I.T.T. is up for sale (knightrider)

We've reported on K.I.T.T. cars being up for sale in the past, but those were all reproductions of the real thing. Now, one of the four documented 1982 Pontiac Trans Ams actually used in the Knight Rider series during the '80s has a For Sale sign on its windshield. The car has been restored to its "debut-season glory" and is being displayed at Kassabian Motors in Dublin, California. The price? $149,995. Ouch, that's a big chunk of Knight Industry's defense contract budget. But it's a small price to pay for the actual car in which the Hoff and his perfectly coiffed hair shot his close ups. Many of the buttons on the dash light up and the two video screens do work, though don't expect this K.I.T.T. to hit 300 mph or jump a school bus when the Rocket Boost button is depressed. The string of red lights on the nose do light up, however, which would be the deal breaker for us.

What the hell? It was Turbo Boost!

(Or did they change that at some point?)

...and yes, I did watch too many episodes as a kid. But I've never watched the reruns. At least not too often.

So this is what car interiors would look like without iDrive...

Hmmm...maybe, a change was made after KITT was rebuilt (after the bit with Goliath & he got the Super Pursuit Mode)?

HA! This is hilarious man. I'd give away vital organs for this car if it actually did half the junk it did on TV. Heck, I'd just take the "woosh woosh" sound effect that would come from the car's security system - that alone would be worth the price of entry.

I don't know about that rocket boost button. I'm sure Wikipedia has 5 paragraphs about that though.

The only changes I remember involved KITT being equipped with a "Turbo Persuit Mode" that involved some fins popping out of the car, and video editors speeding up footage to create an illusion of ridiculous speed.

"TPM" was also accompanied by an equally ridiculous emergency braking mode where rudders would burst out the side of the car to slow it down.
