Which One?

As more and more manufacturers produce different variations of the same basic model I've found it harder to decide which one I like best. Which models do you like so much to the point that you'd want 2 different versions of the same car? For instance, you want a 911, but which one? Do you go all out and get a 911 GT3 or do you get a nice 911 Turbo Cabriolet with tip?

Convertibles also present the same problem to some degree. Ok so you want a DB9 or a two-door 3-Series, do you go for the convertible of the hardtop? Pleast list which models do you find yourself in a dilema about which version you want and why? You can also tell which version you'd choose for the record. For me:

1. Porsche 911 - The GT3 and pending 911 Turbo Cabriolet, both stunning in their own way. Don't know which one I'd want actually.

2. BMW 3-Series - The new convertible has just gone on sale here and it is mighty tempting, but so is the regular coupe which no doubt performs just a little bit better.

3. Mercedes CL - CL63 or CL65 or play it cool with CL600? Different characters in the same body.

4. BMW 5-Series - I'm not a fan of this car, but if I were is the 550i really worth the premium over the newly invigorated 535i?

5. Aston-Martin DB9 - Coupe or convertible or wait for the DBS version?

6. Audi A/S5 - Do you want a coupe or do you wait for the inevitable convertible version?

7 Maserati GranTurismo - see #6.

Any models out there that make you wonder which version you want?

M

Re: Which One?

The S500 (S550) and S600 ...the 500 is more than enough but you just know everyone who owns an S500 always wonders what life is like with the big turbo-charged V12.

Quattroporte Duoselect or Automatic... This question had been on my mind (and my dad's) for quite a while.

Re: Which One?

There is only one car where I have great dilema choosing between it's two variants and it is of course the Zonda (both S & F trim)

The coupe is so beautiful and it's bubble canopy gives the Zonda part of it's Group C influenced character. On the otherhand, the Roadster still offers great looks with air in your hair motoring. The sound of the 12 cylinder is further accentuated..

Can never decide between the two.

Re: Which One?

CL 63 or CL 600 - the 63 looks amazing, but the CL is the perfect car for a V12 engine...the CL 65 AMG is to expensive and I don't think that we need more then 500 hp...my personal choice would be the CL 600 with AMG Sportpackage...

also extremely difficult... DB9 Volante or Coupé!!
I think I would go for the Volante...this roof is just perfect for the DB9...

Re: Which One?

My biggest dilema is, 997 Turbo or 997 GT3 ? (There is also the dilema, 997 GT3 or 997 GT3 RS? ). The turbo has more power, is more comfortable for everyday use and is more expensive of course. The GT3 gives the driver a real racing feeling with its superb naturally aspired engine, but the car isn't as comfortable as the turbo. It feels better on the track, I guess. As for the GT3 RS? I believe that car was made for 90% use on the track and 10% for everyday use. It performs slightly better than a GT3, it gives you pure racing feeling, it's brutal, but other than that, it has nothing more to offer than a regular GT3. So, I would probably go for a GT3.
