Best and Worst Used Cars- Consumer Reports

Here is the best and worst car from Consumer Reports. Not looking good for the Germans. What about AUDI? Where is AUDI?

Here is the deal about this Report:
The lists on these pages are compiled from overall reliability data covering 1997-2006 models with better-than-average or much-worse-than-average reliability. CR Good Bets and Bad Bets include only the models for which we have sufficient data for at least three model years. Models that were brand-new in 2005 or 2006 do not appear. Problems with the engine, engine cooling, transmission, and drive system were weighted more heavily than other problems.

Best Used Cars:

The same goes for Honda. Nissan has a few more tricks to learn to compare to the 2.

Re: Best and Worst Used Cars- Consumer Reports

Not one German car on the good list.

The Japanese thoroughly deserve praise for reliability.

I am sad to see more DCX products on the bad list than any other manufacturer. They are conspicuous by their absence from the good list.

I am hoping that VW will find itself out of the worst used cars list soon - its reputation is certainly taking a beating. VW has always been the hallmark of reliability... Don't let that image go to waste.

Re: Best and Worst Used Cars- Consumer Reports

Nice that Audi was at least spared from the bad list. It's at least a passive vote of confidence I supppose.

Now I wonder what the deal is with V8 trims being unreliable or a bad bet? I've never understood this. Does anybody have the answer?

Maybe people are a bit picky having paid a premium for the V8 models, certainly they are built no different... I'm guessing more gismo's also come standard meaning more things to go wrong.

Mr. Chigga_Chan will become famous soon enough
Re: Best and Worst Used Cars- Consumer Reports

Well, atleast in the US, the only models that really sold were the S430 and S500, being V8s. Probably the few S600s that were sold were probably kept by their respective owners.

I think V8 S-Classes account for the vast majority of the W220 sales.

So basically every Honda/Acura and Toyota Product is a good used car buy.
