After protesting this poll for not having included the Phaeton

I choose.................

Audi A8/S8 for being slightly dated (I mean in when it was released) yet still being in the top 3.

Highlights being the beautiful interior, ASF and engine selection why not the A8/S8 ?

Next A8 will surely knock the S-Class from top spot again

I wouldn't be surprised to see MB do a substantial facelift (major engineering improvements and all), so BMW and Audi leapfrogging the S is not a given. Especially if all their brilliant engineers have nothing better to do once they no longer have to worry about Chrysler.

The order I'd put these cars in are:

1. The S class, this car looks very nice, when it has the amg kit on, and it's engines are way more powerful than any of it's competitors. Also The interior can look very nice with the right trim, very comfortable, lots of tech, great ride, basically a great all rounder, and top of the class!

2. The A8, I love it's design, especially in S8 form, and the interior is a masterpiece. Also it's very good value compared to the S class. It's not great for new technology though.

3. The LS460L has got to have the best quality of any of these cars, and the attention to detail is amazing. It takes engineering to a whole new level, and is an impressive achievement. It's a shame it doesn't have much character. There's a lot of technology on offer.

4. The Bentley Flying Spur, the reason I put this so low down the list, is I don't see what it offers over the S class for it's extra cost. I agree the interior is very nice, but the exterior isn't enough, I see quite a lot of these cars around, and all seem to be in silver and grey, and they look nothing, people who don't know much about cars wouldn't have guessed they cost so much if they didn't see the Bentley badge. Also the ride is too harsh for a car of this type. Very fast though!

5. The 760i, I like this car, still really like the interior, but it's falling behind the competition, the new 7er can't come soon enough. It has got a lot of technology and has started a design revolution for BMW, which is has got to be respected for.

6. The XJR used to be my dream car, after the E39 M5 ended production, but the car hasn't changed one bit since, the new one can't come soon enough. Also I believe the f/l has ruined the design of the car, and interior is now very dated.

On another note -



It is hard to judge the A8L in terms of the S550 or the 750Li. While they’re all similar in size, power, and price, the Audi has completely different intentions. Interesting artical, thanks for posting!

Looks as if they say the S class's brakes aren't as good as the 7er, the 7er's rides bad compared to the others, and the A8 is underpowered.

The only thing is, doesn't the A8 now have the same 350bhp V8 as the Q7?

Can't wait for the new 7er, will be interesting what new things it brings to the class.

I see all these cars daily here in SoCal and there is no other choice for me but the S-class. That's how superior i think it is. Simply untouchable in both looks and prestige.

Even without the AMG badge I find the S to be even more prestigious than the Flying Spur.
