Great pictures James.

I thought it always snowed in NY at Christmas time -- with people ice skating at Rockefella center and snow everywhere. However, the Americans really know how to create a festive atmosphere.

Very Nice Pictures, thanks for posting Mirage. New York is a beautiful and amazing city even if the traffic is heavy but thats what makes driving there interesting.

Nice write-up and awesome pictures!

I found that "You idle, you pau $2000" sign very interesting. Does this law also apply to SUV's?

I read a dummy's guide to NY, it says that the experience to avoid is to spend the new year at the Times Square countdown. Because it's very, very crowded and you're basically just standing around waiting for that damned clock.

Yeah, any New Yorkers to help identify the building?

This year, the Northeastern states are experiencing freak weather - it is unusually warm at this time of the year, but I think NY might be expecting snow in January or February. Now's probably too early in winter, a pity.

Have you driven in New York? 'interesting' is not quite how I'd put it.

I guess the law applies to everything, humans included.

Too bad I'm moving to SoCal in two weeks and will be on the other side of the country.
Thank you Luw!

Yes, I've noticed you've moved to the United States. How's life there and how different is from where you were from (is it London?)?

Yes you should, it's your own country.

Re: The Collection: New York City *56k warning*

Really a nice album of images...it brought back many memories. I was raised in New Jersey and traveled to the city many times as a youngster and then in 1949/50 I worked on Wall Street prior to entering the Navy. Funny, the city has not changed much. The atmosphere you describe was present those 50 some years ago.

I enjoyed the pictures which are excellent...I am glad you enjoyed your trip to the US and your narrative made for great reading.

Thanks for sharing Jack... My dad travelled to NYC in 1972, and he echoes your views that it hasn't changed a lot.
