These are magnificent automobiles from a time when Germany was caught up in a Nationalistic obsession to show the rest of the world the superiority of the German people and the glory of the Third Reich.

That aside, I think today we can appreciate these outstanding automobiles purely for their technical excellence and sublime beauty.

I guess those are selling for gigantic sums, after all it's one of the most beautiful cars ever made. It's most likely insanely expensive to insure.

I read somewhere that a Veyron cost 25 000 euro per year for a 30 years old man to insure in Britain.

Well, prices can vary depending on condition ...and the 540K model is generally more desirable than the 500K.

This 540K is also currently availble for sale. The price is $6,553,762-$8,064,846 USD. So I guess it is negotiable -- make an offer

This price is particularly high, it must be an exceptionally good example.

The classic car market is like the art market, it reaches incredible prices when the global economy is booming .....but can crash when things get tough.

Over the past few years, the global economy has been booming at the high end of the market. There is a lot of new wealth and the market for luxury products has been going absolutely crazy.

According to the web page this came from, there were 25 special roadsters built. The Special Roadster is much more streamlined than the normal cabriolet versions of the 500K and 540K.

This is amazing. It reminds me of the Bugatti 57 SC Atlantique.
