***wimmer's Oktoberfest 2006 Trip***

Went to the Oktoberfest last night with my sister. We drank lots of beer and had a generally good time with random people. That's the beauty of the Oktoberfest: you meet strangers and end up having fun with them. Lot's of British, Italian, French and American tourists here, you could hear them speak all excited about the prospect of getting thrashed.

Claudia and I spent most of our time in the Schützen Festzelt which served Paulaner and Löwenbräu. It was a fun night. We took the train there and back. It was filled with drunks and people who were tipsy etc. At the Munich trainstation, we saw tons of people throwing up, mostly foreigners not used to the strong beer. I would have photographed these scenes but both my pairs of batteries were drained.

The pictures are posted not in order for "effect purposes". Enjoy!

The entrance to the Oktoberfest.

Armbrustschützenzelt serving Paulaner beer.

Fsicher Vronit beer tent, with beer from the Augustiner Bräu brewery.

Spaten Bräu. Free beer to the guy who tells me what that on the side says.

You guys know the famous Hofbräuhaus in Munich right? Well, this is their Oktoberfest beer hall.

Augustiner Bräu beer house.

Hacker Pschorr brewery beer house.

The Löwenbräu beer house with their maskot rotating on top of the tower next to it.

"The Bavaria" at night.

This is the tent where Claudia and I had a good time with strangers. Singing, talking, joking, eating and drinking.

Germans know how to party. World Cup, Oktoberfest, you name it. This is inside the Schützen Festzelt.

Traditional Bavarian delicacies: Obatz'n (Camembert cheese mixed with paprika), Schmalz (pork fat fried and mixed with bacon cutlets and spices - very tasty and sadly high in cholesterol. In fact, if you have heart problems, this thing will kill you!), Preßsack (various meats pressed into a gelatine filling), Südtiroler Schinken (South Tirolean ham), Salzforelle (salty fish). Good stuff good stuff. God damn you cholesterol!

It's Claudia!

Irmin, our waitress for our table and also a passionate photographer.

These German girls were ecstatic when the band played Nena's "99 Luftballons". They began standing up on the benches and singing and dancing, like all others inside the massive beer hall.

And Wimmer joined them.

:praise:

Gimme the one in the green skirt. I think her name was Anneliese if I remember correctly. :praise:

Lot's of drunks.

There was a cute blonde at this bar, but when I was ready to take the picture, she was tending to a customer so I had no choice but to photograph this thing. :mask:

EARLIER IN THE DAY

Arrival at the Oktoberfestplatz with sights of Munich in the background.

Inside the Hofbräu beer hall.

The girl on your left was a classmate of mine in Kindergarden. I found Katharina frying Bratwürstl (sausages) for pay. Here is someone whom I never saw after Kindergarden and we meet again 16 or so odd years later at the Oktoberfest! I recognized her roundish eyes and she seemd to remember my curly hair. Small world!

GERMAN BABES

Oh those legs (on your right).

These two were really fine!

Day shots of some of the beer houses.

Look at all that Paulaner beer.

"The Bavaria" with some older but still MILFish Bavarian women in the foreground.

Claudia infront of The Bavaria.

The Paulaner and Löwenbräu maskots.

Inside the Paulaner beer house...

My first beer of the day, a Paulaner.

Claudia lost brain cells too...

Brother and sister...

Some people sure know how to dress...eh..."well". What is this the new Wonder Woman outfit?

This guy might look funny to you guys, but folks like him are common here. Typical Bavarian beer drinker. Small, roundish and cheerfully dressed.

Auf Wiedersehen Oktoberfest. Might go again sometime this or next week. So, are you guys going to drink Budweiser now?
