Has anyone else seen 'em or they're only aired in the US? Very funny, especially with that Bill Gates looking guy. Who's the Mac dude supposed to resemble? Ads: - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER So, which one do you prefer? Mac or PC? I'll vote for a Mac, just because I'm so tired of all these viruses and spyware I get on my PC.

Re: Mac VS. PC Ads The Mac guy is just some actor (he was in the movie Dodgeball)... and I hate those commercials because not only are they are exaggerated, but they are sometimes full of $#!t.

Re: Mac VS. PC Ads ![]() I've had both Mac and pc...and I'll take Mac anytime. The system rarely crashes, I automatically get monthly updates for various Apple programs, and, if you live in any large U.S. city, you just bring your Mac into an Apple store if there's a need for repair. What clinches the comparison is it's the ease of operation. I had to "unlearn" pc while learning Mac...and it isn't as intuitive at first as a lot of people say- but after awhile you simply "get it"...it sort of teaches you as you go...or, again, you can go to any Apple store and take some free classes. Other people may wish to tout pc...but every creative computer person I know runs Mac. That doesn't mean if you are creative you automatically have a Mac...it took me years to come around after having pc's that would crash, get infected, operate unreliably. After awhile you just get fed-up with pc's inherent weaknesses and go over to the other side -which turns out to be much more user friendly. By the way...the newest G5's have an unobtrusive built in camera...instead of the add-on of this earlier model Last edited by Brookside; 07-20-2006 at 11:00 PM..

Re: Mac VS. PC Ads Mac for all the reasons James stated. The truth of the matter is, once you go Mac you never go back. The ease of use, and the software's ease of use to make photo albums, dvd's, movies, websites, is really amazing. I find the ads funny, though I am a little tired of them now, and I find them true, but of course exaggerated.

Re: Mac VS. PC Ads I've had PCs since the 386-era... and my last two systems (AMD-based) crashed only 3 times in the last 4 years. All 3 times I was running Quark Express, a Mac-based app ported to PC. Properly built PCs (quality parts) rarely crash, at least on XP. I have to admit that prior to Win2K, PC system were pretty unstable on Win9x platforms. Even 2K had shaky moments. WinNT was very stable, but it didn't do much except networking. In those days I used to be an admin of a network of Macs running on OS 7.x. Although they were very stable, the OS was pathetic as it didn't even support multi-tasking (when I duplicated a file, I couldn't do anything else... no wonder it didn't crash). The problem with PCs has always been cheap parts... I mean when you buy a no-name motherboard for 40$ you can't expect much now can you! Macs don't have clones, so their parts are controlled and usually high quality. That's why they don't crash as much as a whole. Although I must say that 2 of my good friends are graphic designers and their Macs (ranging from G3 to G5 generations) crash a lot more than mine. Maybe just bad luck for them, but that's the truth. Now I'm not here to b!tch about which is better and so forth... but I stand by saying that a properly built PC is just as stable as anything Mac has. It just makes more noise when PCs crash because they represent 90+% of the home computer market. I don't have anything against Mac users... my only beef with Macs is the constant false advertizing that the company generates (i.e. claiming to offer the first 64-bit home CPU six months after the Athlon64 was released?!)... so I don't usually like their advertizing, and the company. Oh, and creative people mostly run Macs because schools that teach art programs run on Macs... and you use what you know (that and the fact that artsy software is better on Macs). For the same reason engineers mostly use PCs (and Unix systems), because most engineering schools dont' run Macs.

Re: Mac VS. PC Ads I have an aversion towards macs ever since the imac...or whatever that one is called with the CRT monitor and cpu all in one (i only use it when the pc labs on my campus are full). its slow (that stupid rainbow twirly comes up and everything freezes), the keyboard is hardly ergonomic and the mouse is even worse. ibooks arn't that great either. the lack of a recessed touchpad makes it frustrating when you are typing something and the palm of your hand accidentally touches it and moves the cursor to some place you shouldn't be typing. i've heard good and bad things about the new intel macs though, maybe i'll change my mind after i play with one of those for awhile. also...does anyone know if macs will get intels conroe chips in the near future?

Re: Mac VS. PC Ads We're all car guys here - so I think we've grown used to companies making ridiculous claims about the virtues of their products. When somebody gets upset about what's said in a piece of Apple literature or advertisement it baffles me. I work in marketing, and I don't see anything terribly unusual about what Apple does and says to sell their products. Althugh I'm a decade-long Mac user, I juggle using my Mac and PC on a regular basis at work and, for the most part, use the PC when I'm dealing with Microsoft office. Office is just "snappier" in Win XP and gives me the kind immediate feedback I'm looking for when I'm plowing through a job. As for the arrangement of the workspace and getting around, Windows XP is a complete chore to work with. I understand how you'd have little problem if you're doing clerical work or are confined to a couple of apps, but I often have 6 programs and 10 windows open simultaneously. I'm leaving the stability, quality, performance and value equations at the door. The Windows workspace is just plain cumbersome to deal with when you're working with a slew of documents at fever pitch.

Re: Mac VS. PC Ads I wouldn't even consider a Mac for home use. I've been using PC's for ~20 years now and most of the problems mentioned here are nonexistent on a properly set-up machine. I've never had a virus infection on my computer and the multitude of programs and add-on devices that are available for PC's far outweighs the minor annoyances that come with any version of Windows (which, of course, is not the only OS available for PC's). I have used Macs at work for extended periods of time, and to be quite honest for an advanced user like myself the 'ease of use' is exactly what is missing. I find Windows systems to be more easily tweakable to suit my personal taste. And not to mention the fact that the office Macs used to crash far more frequently than the PC's that replaced most of them...
