Airbus fights back!!!

July 17, 2006

Airbus today released the newly revised A350 to compete against the 787

Airbus today released the newly revised A350 which is a little bigger than the Boeing 787. Airbus had to redesign the A350 because it was identical to the A330 fuselage and was extremely dated. Also, Boeing's new 787 was primarily made of composite materials and was extremely efficient. That is not the case anymore since Airbus today released the newly revised A350 and has really made a good airplane.

Could this put Airbus back on top? I am not to sure. Boeing has been laughing all the way to the bank with so many orders for its 787, but now this has come along and airlines may opt for this. However, I think we need to wait for more preliminary data to see how this aircraft will do. Either way, we will never know how both the 787 and the A350 will do until they are actually built and tested in real life.

Imho airbus already is on top, considering how many orders they've got on the A380, and as if that wasn't enough we now have an A350 which most likely will take a lot of the dreamliner's share of the market.

Re: Airbus fights back!!!

yes! The 787 looked cool in concept form but the revised version kind of pissed me off with how bland it looked. I dunno though. Hopefully Airbus maintains this cool look till production.

Well, the 787 has an immense amount of orders, something that I highly doubt the A350 will be able to overtake, maybe put a dent in.

The A380 hasn't official been released and is delayed tremendously, so if anyone should be worried it is Airbus.

Airbus is very shaky actually ...it is completely propped up by the EU .....and Boeing's 787 is going to kill the A380.

Because the Dreamliner concept is much better value for airlines. The 787 enables long-distance, non-stop travel, it is a more fuel efficient aircraft making it much more cost effective for airlines. Sure, the A380 can carry more passengers, but in reality, the financial costs of better fuel economy outweigh the benefits of greater capacity. Also, long-distance travel without stopping is commercially appealing for airlines too ...especially for the business-travel sector.

I thought this might be the angle you were going with it (seemed like the only argument that made sense).

Re: Airbus fights back!!!

Wow, then I'm totally misinformed. Sorry guys!

I actually thought that the dreamliner was the kind of plane that would connect small airports with the bigger ones that would act like hubs but clearly that is not the case
