Hit and Run

Tonight I went out to buy shampoo at my local pharmacy and for the first time saw justice served.

I am not sure if many of you witness the day to day injustices of rage driving, punk driving, hit and runs, etc. but I do. There are so many times that I see people drive like idiots that it drives me nuts. Well, straight to my story.

I was at a red light, with your typical evening traffic and just for the sake of scenario basic I will tell you who was around before I continue.

In my lane there was one Florida Highway Patrol (bless their souls after tonight). Across the intersection facing me was a city police officer. Both of them were in their cruisers, however, I was not aware of the police officer until action kicked it. To my left there is a gas station. Just so that you know, I live in the US--if you haven't already guessed--and we drive on the right side, so there was a street that takes traffic in the contrary direction in between me and the gas station.

As I was sitting for the light to turn green I notice a BMW convertible--new one to say the least--was pulling up into the garage. Nothing special just another beemer. I turn back to the traffic light. Then I begin to hear someone honking their horn which sounded like a BMW one. Well, it was. Apparently the women drivint the convertible was hoking at a guy driving his nissan that was backing up. Her reasoning was because he may hit her. Well, the honking didn't work and he did. Well, he didn't even stop to look. He attempted to FLee!!!

Everyone at the gas station was screaming and banging on his car. He continued, as if nothing had happened. Well right before he got to the intersection I was paying attention to the FHP. He was reversing and getting ready for action. Then all of the sudden I see the police officer come out of no where with his sirens and lights, in addition to the FHP with his sirens and lights. However, the guy still attempted to flee but the cops blocked him. He got out of the car as if he was some sort of thug but his act was finished. The police officer threw him against his car and cuffed him.

I was so happy to see this infront of me tonight and it gave me so much pleasure, that I had to come here and share it with you guys.

Have you guys seen anything like this before? What do you think?

Re: Hit and Run

Great ending to this interesting story. The guy was probably on something... that kind of guys should be put away, but unfortunately he may be back again sooner than later...unless he was on parole. Thanks for sharing!

Re: Hit and Run

I see plenty of hit and run around here. A lot of it has to do with people trying to make a turn from the middle of the street!

Once a taxi driver sideswiped an Infiniti FX when he tried to make a left turn. The FX pulled over, but he kept going. The taxi driver slowed down a bit, but then kept going as if nothing had happened. I memorized the license plate and gave it to the FX's driver.
So not long ago, a pickup truck driver tried to pull out of her parking spot, but failed to notice the E-Class that just parked behind her just seconds before she got into her pickup. She backed up and rammed the E-Class. The driver of the E-Class was feet away and came back running and banging on the pickup's window as the driver was trying to leave.

There are more, but I can't remember them all

Re: Hit and Run

i have not seen police offecers in action except of those who give speeding and parking tickets!

Anyway, i have never seen or participated in a hit and run. It may be because we, the greeks, not only sound the horn, but we start screaming, too!

Re: Hit and Run

There was another hit and run that I saw on the highway and it was just brutal. A van basically side swiped another car and just sped away. I couldn't get the license plate nor catch up with them.

I would never do a hit and run whatso ever. It is just wrong and an injustice to the driver.

I was so glad that they caught this guy.

Yeah, that sux. I'm glad the cops caught the guy.

On the other hand, I have nudged a vehicle or two whilst parking, but no damage that I could see. Er, and I didn't leave a note.

If it was any sort of major damage then I'd stop or leave some details.

That is different. My g/f did the same and called me for advice and I told her to leave because she said that there was no apparent damage. However, this guy (the one in my story) definitely hit the car hard and tried to flee.

Re: Hit and Run

Yeah, that's pretty bad if you hit it hard and try to leave. When the driver is inside. Honking madly. And people are outside, yelling and telling you to stop.

So what was the Nissan driver doing in the servo? (ie. service station, petrol station - Australian colloquial..) Just getting out from a parking spot, or trying to take the BMW driver's bowser spot, or something else?

I think the guy was backing up without looking behind him. When the honking started it was to late and he hit her car. However, once this happened he didn't care and tried to flee.
