The $30.1 billion give away

Warren Buffett recently announced that he plans to give away the majority of his fortune upon his death. Many expected the bulk of his holdings to be given to the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, which was founded by Buffett's late wife, but it now appears that the largest contribution of $30.1 billion will go to the Gates Foundation. A contribution of that size would double the size of the foundation, already the world's largest. His wife's foundation will receive approximately $3 billion, while the three foundations run by each of his children will get over $1 billion each.

The billionaire is in excellent health now and has a net worth of approximately $42 billion dollars

I think it is very noble of him to do this, though I'm not sure if he is doing it out of generosity or about of fame. Hopefully the money will be channeled in the right direction helping people fight aids and putting children all over the world into class rooms.

I don't think he's doing it for fame Lu, Buffet is actually quite a humble man ...he still lives in the same average suburban house, he and his wife bought in the late 1950's. Also, if this was all about ego, he would most probably have started his own foundation in his own name instead of donating this money to the Bill and Linda Gates Foundation....I really think this is a genuine gesture of kindness and generosity.

I read that he is driven around in a Lincoln Town Car.... pre 2000 that is. But really if he does go through with this, it would be such a noble gesture.

He also has a foundation run by his wife and children I think, but he's donating a much smaller amount to that.

Well it depens on what type of foundation it is.

If it's an ineficient one, the money is waisted.
An eficient one does al sorts of things, free medicines, injections, clothes, condums etc for the poorest people in the world.
As well as ending up as R&D money for fight AIDS, cancer and so on.

I hope that the money from Billy G does come with strings attached such as with the World Bank.

The funny thing with Aids is that you can fight it very easily if you are sitting on a baller's bank account. Take Magic Johnson who has manage to live with it for almost tens years now while poor people in under developed nation die everyday just becasue they can't afford proper medication.
