This is disturbing, very disturbing. I can't believe it at all. I really hope this is not true.

AP - Three boys, ages eight and nine, are in custody in the United States, charged with kidnapping and raping an 11-year-old girl near a suburban Georgia apartment complex.

The alleged attack happened on Thursday and the girl's mother reported it to authorities on Sunday, police in the city of Acworth said.

"The victim said they were playing outdoors and the girl was forced into a wooded area where she was sexually assaulted, where one of the boys raped her," Acworth police Captain Wayne Dennard said.

The three boys - an 8-year-old and two 9-year-olds - appeared in juvenile court on Monday, dwarfed by the courtroom chairs and wearing navy blue jump suits and shackles. Their names were withheld because of their age.

District Attorney Pat Head said the boys could not be charged with felony crimes because of their age but could be tried for alleged delinquent acts that could place them in a juvenile facility for up to five years.

The next step will be for the court to schedule a hearing to determine how to proceed in the case, Head said.

Juvenile Court Judge A Gregory Poole issued a gag order preventing the lawyers from commenting further.

Acworth Police Chief Mike Wilkie said one of the boys was accused of threatening to hit the girl with a rock before the alleged assault.

Wilkie also said the investigation is "far from over," and investigators are looking into claims that after the alleged attack, the girl talked about it with her friends at a slumber party.

The girl's mother told WGCL-TV in Atlanta, "They do need to be taught a lesson because if they do it to her, they could do it to somebody else. And who knows when they become teenagers what they can do to other girls."

The case involves children from a working class apartment complex. Acworth, about 50 kilometres northwest of Atlanta along the shores of Lake Allatoona, is a town of about 17,000.

Acworth police said their department has never before investigated allegations of rape where all the parties were this young.

"This wouldn't be normal anywhere, but especially not Acworth," Dennard said.

Great. They ain't going to jail because of "their age". I say let the f*ckers go to jail. Let them live with the scum of the earth. Hell, I seriously hope these f*cks get raped in prison.

Usually my murderous rage only reserve for people above the age of 15, but in this case, I do agree with you, 100%, we are being nice already because there are far wose things we can do, but this will do for now.

i'm sad to say, but over here, rape is pretty common. not within teens, but with adults raping young girls. it's just so sick, IMO. they should be either jailed for life, shot to death, or a painful slow death or something.

it's not fair they just destroy a young girls life when she has so many years ahead of her.

Damn kids are growing up fast these days. At the age of 8 and 9 I had not even experienced an erection and were totally clueless about sex and reproduction.

I grew up in a protective environment as well but it was between the ages of 8-9 that I started to get rebellious, falling in love ect. Great changes take place at those times. This is also the time when you start to recall events.

Any event before age 9 or 8 you might not remember that well.
