What are your favorite restaurants? Okay, too much Food Network watching for me. Gentleman, what are your favorite restaurants in the world? I'm not asking what famous restaurants you've been to because I hate those celebrity chef-run restaurants that have some overrated bloke's name plastered all over it. There aren't too many world famous restaurants, certainly no Michelin three-star establishments, in my neck of the woods. The few famous places that I been to were disappointing and not worthy of the praise.

Re: What are your favorite restaurants? I rarely eat out at restaurant since the prices are often high, waiting time high and the meals not what one expects. I don't recall the name of the restaurant but I was in Uganda a few year ago and encountered an exceptional restaurant. It was an Indian restaurant and the owner had also opened one in Dubai. It was located on the roof of a mall and was a semi-posh restaurant. The owner was at the restaurant regularly and always gave me, my siblings and my friends a very warm and cheering welcome. When seated down the menus are off course fetched for you. After having ordered, a plate with sliced vegetables is served on the table in order to keep you alive while waiting. A minute or so before the food is ready to be served the waiters come to the table with bowls of lukewarm water and lemon ,so that you can get your hands washed with having to leave the table. Then comes the food off course and it was superb. Best Indian food I have ever eat. Everything at the restaurant was spotless. The plates and cutlery was placed on the tables nicely and he owner was nice enough to let us pay at a later stage when we had too little money with us. We ate there several times and the experience now serves as a reference when ever I eat at restaurants. We received service at the very high level. Both the food, service and the resurant itself was superb.

Re: What are your favorite restaurants? Indian, Thai and Vietnamese restaurants are always favorites. And French restaurants that have vegetarian or pescetarian choices are usually second to none. At least the ones I've been to.

Re: What are your favorite restaurants? One of the best things about living in California is the influence of Hispanic culture on pretty much everything. I LOVE mexican food. It's the one food that I constantly crave. It's sinful. And I love it ![]()

Re: What are your favorite restaurants? As Donau will already know, Vancouver has more than it's fair share of excellent restaurants. Frankly though, I don't eat out a whole lot so my knowledge as to which ones are the best is somewhat limited. Nevertheless, I enjoy foods of all nationalities - Japanese, Indian, Mexican, Thai and Vietnamese. Actually, I'm open to eating most everything and anything, but have never liked Greek food. Here in Vancouver I stumbled upon a restaurant called the "Papaya Hut", which despite the awful reviews, serves great food. And it's reasonably priced too. On the mainstream front, I enjoy both "Quizno's" and "Moxies". But my best memories of "mainstream" eating comes from when I lived in the States and that which comes from the popular restaurant chain called "Puerto Vallatra". That stuff was good.

Re: What are your favorite restaurants? Bruce, have you been to "Vij's" in Vancouver? I thought Ducasse's main restaurant lost one of its stars a few years ago.
