If any of you are ever on the Los Angeles Westside, Sakura is arguably the best Sushi joint in all of LA.

Re: What are your favorite restaurants?

Eating out! Actually it's one of my favourite sports and to tell you the truth i just came home from eating out

Since i am very tranditionalist and narrow minded i don't like anything else other than mediteranian cousine and especially greek cousine! As for famous restaurants, i can't say that there are many top notch restaurants in the area, and of the expensive ones i am not very excited with their food.

On the other hand, i like many of those small traditional greek restaurants. I love their food and i know most of their owners personally! But i have to say that also i cook very nice!

Nevertheless, I enjoy foods of all nationalities - Japanese, Indian, Mexican, Thai and Vietnamese. Actually, I'm open to eating most everything and anything, but have never liked Greek food.

Here in Vancouver I stumbled upon a restaurant called the "Papaya Hut", which despite the awful reviews, serves great food. And it's reasonably priced too.

On the mainstream front, I enjoy both "Quizno's" and "Moxies". But my best memories of "mainstream" eating comes from when I lived in the States and that which comes from the popular restaurant chain called "Puerto Vallatra". That stuff was good.
If Finland was not pulling me, I would positively retire in Vancouver for more than one reason but one of the reasons is the great selection of excellent restaurants. Just around the corner of Robson and Denman there is a little place called Cafe Paris. Bruce, if you are ever in that neighborhood (West End) please go & try their Orange Saffron Salmon. Get a bottle of nice Washington State or B.C Souvignon Blanc to go with it. I'd be interested to know if they've still got the touch

I believe you

If you come to Vancouver anytime soon, let me know and maybe we can meet up.

I'm not too far away; currently living in Point Grey on 1st avenue. Will have to check it out! Appreciate the recommendation Olli.

Well, the reputation is that it is one of the best Indian restaurants in the world. I went there twice, first in 2000 and then in 2004. The first time I ate there it was superb. The line-ups were and probably still are massive. I heard that Pierre Trudeau had to wait in line once.

Re: What are your favorite restaurants?

Thanks Bruce,

If I will be lucky enough to get back there again I will surely contact you first so we can meet.

About the Cafe Paris on the map: Yes, that's it I used to stay in a corporate apartment just round the corner, entrance was on Robson Street side.

I remember the Point Gray area although I never really had occasion to be there much. But I saw enough of the area to want to explore that part of Vancouver as well. Very nice area
