There might be sufficient flow through effect from these ads. There are millions of user around and it is highly likely that 10% of them will bother to spend money on FB, that will be enough I guess to generate a healthy profit. For me, I just go in, look at the photos and that is it, not going to waste my time looking through all the other random stuff.

Myspace's parent company, News Corp, only has assets worth $62 billion as of 2007. According to these crazy valuations, their myspace unit (which cost $580m in 2005) could account for 40% of the world's largest media empire's assets. If FB gets to a $10b valuation (and it probably will), we're looking at 2000 internet stock bubble all over again. With the mortgage mess in America, the last thing it needs is another bubble.
Who ever did the valuations must be on drugs. I mean how the hell can FB be valued at $5b, and myspace worth around $12b. It shows you, people never learn.

Actually, I think it will emerge that FB will be valued at $15-20 billion when all is said and done. It's true people never learn. If the valuations experts are on drugs, then the companies willing to pay these prices must be perpetually high because they seem absolutely insane to me.

I keep reading about companies not caring about acquisition prices, revenues and profits! I think to myself I don't understand business anymore. I should retire and go become a monk.

Christian, you have to log in before you can view any FB pages, right? I think with myspace and friendster anyone could search for a specific page and view them without creating an actual account.

This is going a bit OT but anyway you have a lot of stuff going on in your profile, it will take me a while to go through it.

First of all you need an account. Second, you can only view people's profiles if you're either in their network, you send them a message and they reply or they have lax privacy settings. Most people prevent you from looking at their profiles through various privacy settings.

You have to create an actual account to view any FB pages, that is how FB got so many users. I wasn't into FB but my friends got me into it so I can see their photos.
