The price drop worked on me - Instead of holding out for another year I'll probably buy a phone in a couple of weeks. I'm holding out to see if the T-Mobile unlock can be used, but AT&T is alright with me if I'm left with no choice.

And speaking of the price drop - I defy you to name another phone that approaches the iPhone's level of aptitude at the $399 price point.
Stevie J made a good comback yesterday with offering $100 in store credit. Off course that's not like getting 100 dollars in cash but it's better than nothing. Nice gesture by Mr. Jobs while still keeping the money in Apple's pocket.

As for the price drop itself the iPhone is hands down the phone on the market with best value. For $399 and 8GB you can't really complain. Especially if you can buy a refurbished one for $349. Now let's just wait for unlocking software to be released, then we can talk

After several glasses of water and consideration I'll be picking up a 16GB iPod Touch later this year. I have been DAP-less in 5 months and need one badly. Neither do I want to wait another 6 months for a 32GB Touch to be launched.

It's will be one sweet device to use at University in January when I will pursue a degree in Marketing. Getting time to tick faster by watching youtube clips, reading blogs and visiting GCZ between lessons. Checking my mail as well as looking things up on wikipedia. What an awesome tool. Hopefully Apple will allow users to download or watch movie trailers from their site and perhaps also download pod and videocasts.

As for St€v€ I don't hate him for his practices, after all Apple's sole purpose like any company is to generate profit. I actually admire him even though I partially hate some of the products he move. Apple are damn good at that and know how to ride or their brand name and success. They have an excellent marketing team, I would love to do intern for them in the future.

BTW how do you like the ringtone situation? 0.99 + 0.99 = Expensive ringtone.

I'm still holding out to see if there's a development on the T-Mobile SIM unlock situation. I'm really eager to make that happen.

There's gonna be hacks galore for that thing in no time. I can't wait to see what becomes of the iPhone and iPod touch in one year.

I think it's absolute junk that you have to re-pay for a song you already own. On the other hand, I also understand that Apple's hands are shackled by the RIAA and Co. from enabling free ringtones via iTunes software so I understand why this policy has been enacted. Ringtones are a great source of ill-gotten gain for the recording industry and they're none too keen to let that go. On the other hand - it's totally bogus that you can't cobble together your own ring tones with non-copywritten material. This whole 'guard the ringtone' nonsense is aggrivating and stupid when we all know what the iPhone is capable of.

On the other hand - I put my phone on vibrate.

If rumours are true, I'm not interested in the ipod touch anymore. fingers crossed that creative will produce - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER, with GPS(!) and HD. not so hyped about the HD part, but GPS is what I've been waiting so long from apple (only to be disappointed keynote after keynote)...now to figure out a way to get all my songs off of itunes...

Pretty cool. It's going to be interesting to see where convergence devices go in the next couple of years, since critical pieces of technology like GPS are starting to get into the mix.

On the other hand, I already have a Nav in my car, so the GPS is a nonissue for me.

Looking forward to it, as a media device it will one hell of a device. I hope the specs will be good.

It will have a tough time competing against the iPod which has more or less morphed into a PDA. Can't wait to see the future applications Apple has planned for the iPod Touch. WiFi, Safari and the calculator is only the beginning. We will see a word processing application in the time to come and perhaps even a PDF reader. As you can see I'm very optimistic

I'm interested to see what tact Apple is going to take in upgrading and enhancing existing iPhones. No doubt, new applications are coming down the pike, but how will they be brought to us? Will Apple approach this like widgets, and extend our functionality pro bono? Or will they do the cynical thing and try to sell us applications a la carte? My guess is that they'll do a little bit of both... my hope is that they'll be nice and just give us the good stuff free of charge.

Yeah. Apple tend to give us one cookie at a time, put a lid on the jar and put it inside a safe. I really hope that they'll let us enjoy the full glory of the iPhone/Touch by releasing lots of useful application.

I'm a power user and there's nothing I hate more than manufacturers who put silly limitations on powerful products.

Re: New iPod Touch

Ipod touch? It's F__king worthless unless you're a total apple fanboy, have money to waste and are a show off. Why do I say this? because the thing is 16gigs and costs $400. $400? Are you F__king kidding me? That's just stupid, but the sad reality is that lots and lots of people are going to buy it.

Re: New iPod Touch

I am one of them I have to admit. I always thought the Iphone is rubbish, and I still do. But the ipod, imo that makes much more sense. It just needs MORE storage space asap
