I remember a few months ago 11-megapixels was the shit. So what happened to all the numbers in between 11 and 39?

Edit: For a new cameral like that, especially being top-of-the-line it should have a much bigger LCD.

i was going to say that too. But its worth it for a real photographer regardless of cost. At that point the picture just can tbe better.

When My dad baught his 8 megapixel camera a year ago I thought that was a huge a picture. A 39 mp camera is just a monstrously sized picture. Its acually too big. Its not reasonably big, its just too big.

That thing's not just for professional photographers, such as event photographers or photo journalists. It's for commercial photographers, such as (from the first linked article) for giant billboards or high end fashion magazines. Plus, it's not a camera in itself - it's a "digital camera back" - maybe it could be described as the thing that captures the image itself. The rest of the camera - body, lens, etc. - is all supplied by someone else.

Amateur hobbyist photographers, gadget freaks and even rich people really need not apply - you'd just be wasting your time.

The size of the picture is not the same as the amount of detail in a picture.

The MP determines how much detail you want in your picture, but the size of the picture can be adjusted very easily according to your own preference.

BTW, 39 MP would give unimaginable detail. What if it captures all the dust in the air that is previously unnoticeable in advertisements?
