It’s Mercedes-Benzes all the way for the world’s most famous opera singer as he snubs his nose at BMW’s 7-Series.

Luciano Pavarotti reportedly threw a wobbly over his mode of transport during the New Zealand leg of his final concert tour last week.

The event was sponsored by BMW and the Italian tenor was initially ferried about in a new BMW 7 Series limousine. But this was not good enough for Pavarotti.

When he arrived at his hotel, he reportedly asked his personal assistant to "get a Mercedes-Benz S-Class, like I had in Australia". Drive's deep-throat says the PA initially dismissed the request as Pavarotti "just having a moment".

However, when he left the hotel the next morning to go to rehearsals, he was furious to find the same BMW 7 Series waiting for him. Drive's snout says Pavarotti said if there was no Mercedes-Benz then the tour was finished.

After some frantic phone calls, Mercedes-Benz NZ came to the rescue, delivering an S-Class soon after receiving the call.

What a bloody disgrace. I know he's famous..and I know a lot of other celebrities do the same... but to be so pedantic as to whinge about that... this idiot needs to visit Africa and see what people got to live with. Then he might lose some weight to. Bloody moron.

That is real prima donna behaviour - but why did he request a mere S class - why not demand a Maybach 62 or else "I don't perform"

I agree BeeMer Boi, it makes me loose some respect for him as a gentleman.

He he. But really this sort of behaviour isn't called for, especially since BMW must have payed quite a bit to sponsor the event. He should have just gotten over it.
