Thumbs down I got a ticket today.

On my way to the DMV in the early afternoon today I decided to push by beloved 1.4L Ford Escort. I'm not the type of guy who drive wreckless or uneccessarily revs a car. Anyhow I became a bit speed blind and didn't realise that I was driving 18mph above the speed limit. After speeding for a minute or two I saw a big Police bike behind me with the lights turned on.
Since I have been playing NFS the latest days I thought the police was after the car in front of me but eventually I pulled over to find out I was the most wanted guy.
While the officer was writing the ticket a Tahoe and another police bike pulled up behind me and it seem like I wasn't the only one having fun on the roads. I'm scheduled to appear in court at the end off March and I wonder what type of fine I'll end up paying, 100$, 200$ or even 10$? Any advise?

Re: I got a ticket today.

If the judge offers you to take a corrective driving course class I would take it. Even though it will probably cost you an extra $50-100, it could save you much more later on since the speeding ticket might impact your insurance.

Before I tell you what to do, I need you to answer a couple of questions.

1) were you in the officers line of site from point of violation until he stopped you?

2) Was the speed he stated you were going perfectly accurate?

3) Did the officer ask you how fast you were going, or did he just tell you how fast?

well its not exactly court its traffic court which is much more low key. Still i guess the US does make you do alot more than just pay the fine

Re: I got a ticket today.

You need to get a new court date, you can push it back several times. The date he gave you is a date that he will be in court all day to deal with all his tickets. If you are lucky the new date will not be a regular court date for the officer andd he will not show up. If he does not show up, you get off.

I once drove over 900 miles round trip to go to court for a speeding ticket, I had just moved.
It was worth it, the cop did not show up. Judge was pissed, I was the 5 or 6th case and on each case either the cop or other person did not show up.

That's the easiest way but how about using the law against it's self! I've beat tickets with the cop their, with his card proving his radar gun was properly colibrated and all!
Their's more way's for you to beat a ticket than way's for the state to prove it!
