Re: Any clue what movie this is?

Godzilla?

Actually, I am pretty sure it is Godzilla. If you notice the statue of liberty there seems to be a huge gash as if a lizard type creature took its hand and slash away at the statute leaving the marks on it. This picture is on the website itself and not found on the trailer. At the end of the trailer you see that exact movement I describe manifest itself when you see the head of the statute of liberty.

Also, if you notice the loud crying noise it sounds as if it is coming from a monster. After we hear the frist cry there is an 'explosion' of sorts which leads one to think that he may be godzilla roaring and then firing the fire.

0.02 cents

Re: Any clue what movie this is?

Godzilla seems like the likely answer (note the buildings in the back which look like a ceature went through them), but would really have another one? The last one was in '02, wasn' it?

Re: Any clue what movie this is?

Bruce you have brought up a very good point that I have seen brought up as well in other forums concerning this. You know, I don't know what to say. For one, the movie industry does things from time to time to surprise us and they sometimes don't wait long. If they are making another godzilla, it is because they must be convinced, or someone convinced them, that this would be monstrously better. No pun intended.

I would say that is the only thing I can come up with at this moment. The only other alternative is another creature or some sort of alien creature. Nevertheless, it has a creature because of what has been indicated already.

Re: Any clue what movie this is?

I know for a fact its not Godzilla, it's called "Cloverfield" actually, thats all I know about it so far.

Its possible it could be a lost spinoff as well, among other things...

Cloverfield is just a codename, but I don't think it's Godzilla either.

J.J. Abrams Speaks, “We Need Our Own Godzilla”

Published by - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at :37 pm.

“Do you think we’d call it ‘Monstrous’?” J.J. Abrams teased the Comic-Con crowd Thursday. “No.”
Abrams wouldn’t cough up the real title of his mysterious January flick, but he did give his own explanation of the movie, remembering a recent trip to Japan. “We need our own Godzilla.”
Constantly referring to the project as “This movie”, Abrams showed the now-famous teaser, promised that a title would be forthcoming, and unveiled a new poster with a headless Statue of Liberty to the Con masses.

JJ Abrams Comic-Con News

JJ Abrams comes out and in extremely rapid-fire fashion he tells us, “I wanted a monster movies, and had taken my son to Japan, and there were all these Godzilla dolls everywhere. However, I decided we needed our own monster. We’re not showing any footage, but we’re almost done shooting, and I think you’ll love it. We aren’t revealing a title today.” The audience booed just as you are wanting to throw your mouse against the wall. “What would you think if we called it Monstorous? Anyhow, we’ll see. We have a new poster out, and you’ll be getting that today. I can’t wait for you to see this.. Bye!”

Btw, JJ Abrams is also filming Star Trek XI movie. Coming for Christmas 2008.
