| Carmagazine - First drive: Mitsubishi Evo X ![]() So this is the tenth new version of the Evo – why should I still take any notice? Sure, some previous new Evos had differences that only its diehard fans could spot or cared about. Not this time. The Mitsubishi Evo X is new from the wheels up. It reignites the rivalry that has raged on streets and rally stages between Mitsubishi and Subaru since the ‘90s; both the Evo and the new - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER will be launched at this month’s Tokyo Motor Show, but CAR Online has driven the Evo first and exclusively at Mitsubishi’s Tokachi proving ground in northern Japan. And most importantly, it aims to broaden the Evo’s appeal away from just those diehards to the huge numbers of buyers who will happily spend £30,000 on a sports saloon and love the idea of the Evo’s supercar performance, but who just couldn’t live with the old car’s hard ride, cheap cabin and lack of refinement. | Re: Carmagazine - First drive: Mitsubishi Evo X Good news! I always loved the way the EVO drives, but the quality and the cabin really bothered me. Not that i would choose that over a Bimmer, but anyway ![]() |

| Re: Carmagazine - First drive: Mitsubishi Evo X I love it. It looks so much better than the Subaru Impreza (new version). Mitsubishi needs the standard Lancer to strengthen their position in the US and I personally think it might just work. Mitsubishi really worked overtime on their latest products. |

| Re: Carmagazine - First drive: Mitsubishi Evo X If you value function/performance over luxury, prestige, and any negative boy-racer image that may exist, I find the Evo X to be a very attractive package. 4 doors, probabaly one of the most advanced AWD systems, available dual clutch gearbox, super duper handling that rivals the best German sports cars, and very decent acceleration......all for a reasonable price. These are the main selling points to me. If you already own a luxury car, the EVO X would make for an excellent car that you may not mind abusing in the snow and on the track. At least, that's what I'm thinking about more and more...... ![]() |
