Chicago Auto Show: Mercedes ML63 AMG

AMG's version of the Mercedes M-class, which debuted last year in Frankfurt, joined the new AMG R-class for the North American debut of the new 6.3-liter, 32-valve, 505 hp V8. The ML 63 AMG shares the same seven-speed automatic transmission.

The AMG interior treatment in the ML63 is also similar to the R63's, with minor differences, including a stop watch/lap timer integrated into the instrument cluster.

The chassis shares the R63's AIRMATIC height-adjustable suspension, with the addition of bespoke AMG shocks and a specially configured Adaptive Damping System. The ML63 rolls on 20-inch wheels with 295/40 Z-rated tires.

The exterior treatment of the ML 63 AMG particularly impressed our man Chris Paukert as a vast improvement over the standard version.

Re: Chicago Auto Show: Mercedes ML63 AMG

This car would look sooo better without that ugly front bumper and horrible looking (too big) fog lamps. Different bumper and smaller fogs would improve the front look a lot.

I thought MB was horsepower hungry. Cayenne got more horses, its time for MB to act.

Isn't it funny how that happens. The ML63 came out with 500+ hp when the Pepper Truck only had 450, now the Spicy Truck has what 520hp? I don't think Mercedes will react to this anytime soon. We don't want 600hp in a ML...lol!!

That would be something, but I don't think the V12 would fit. Maybe they could drop in the rumored turbo version of the 6.2L V8.

No, no V12, the car is too heavy then (it already is heavy), consumption like , handling ain't that good, etc. Boost a little a V8 with turbo as you've said and voila!
