| 250.000 ML-Class since April 2005!! Mercedes Delivers 250,000 M-Class Models To Customers Worldwide Posted October 19, 2007 At 1:15 PM CST ![]() Taking a moment to bask in the prodigious glory of its M-Class, Mercedes has announced today that worldwide deliveries to customers of the luxury SUV have reached the quarter-million mark since its debut in April of 2005. Particularly popular in the United States and Germany (with one-third of all M-Class models being sold here in the U.S.), diesel engine variants constitute the majority of M-Class models sold worldwide, with some 60 percent of customers opting for one of the three diesel power plants currently being offered. In the U.S. sales of the diesel-powered M320 are up as well, with 20 percent of Americans opting for the CDI model. To learn more about the Mercedes M-Class as well as its milestone sales achievement, keep reading for the full details in the official press release below. Enjoy. OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE Current M-Class Delivered to 250,000 Customers Worldwide Since Market Launch
The M-Class is particularly popular among customers in the United States and Germany, with sales in the U.S. accounting for about one third of total M-Class sales. The German market accounts for one fifth of M-Class sales. About 60 percent of M-Class customers worldwide choose one of the three diesel engines offered. The ML 320 CDI diesel model introduced in the U.S. in late 2006 is also proving to be very popular with American customers: By the end of September, the diesel-powered version accounted for 20 percent of all M-Class models sold in the 45 U.S. states where the vehicle is available with the diesel engine. Worldwide, the ML 320 CDI is the top seller among the M-Class engine versions, representing about 40 percent of M-Class sales. Beginning next year, three clean and economical Mercedes-Benz SUVs with BLUETEC technology - the M-Class, GL-Class, and R-Class - will be available to American customers in all 50 states. These vehicles comply with the stringent BIN 5 standard and also have the potential to meet future EU5 and EU6 limits. In June of this year, the J.D. Power study “Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout” (APEAL) confirmed the customers’ very positive response to the M-Class: Two vehicles from the Mercedes-Benz line-up of SUVs, the M-Class and the GL-Class, which received a Gold award, came out top in the customer survey. As part of the annual study, the U.S. market researchers ask owners of new vehicles how satisfied they are with their vehicles’ concepts. To coincide with the 10-year anniversary of the M-Class - its first generation made its market premiere in 1997 - the special “Edition 10” model has been available since mid-September of this year. Distinguished by “Edition 10” logos on the fenders, the anniversary model’s features include 20-inch wheels, bi-xenon-headlights, dark-tinted tail lights, and special “titanium look” body colors. Like the R-Class and GL-Class models, the M-Class is produced in the U.S., at Mercedes-Benz’ Tuscaloosa, Alabama plant. Copyright © 2007, Daimler AG Impressive... |

| Re: 250.000 ML-Class since April 2005!! That does seems like a really good number for 2 1/2 years. The GL has been doing great also, but too bad the R isn't. Just think if the R was a hit too, the Bama factory would be working around the clock. Instead I bet every 4 or 5th vehicle down the line is an R. M |

| Re: 250.000 ML-Class since April 2005!! Despite the previous generation's reputation of unreliability and cheap quality, it doesn't seem to have damaged the appeal of the ML at all. IMO, Mercedes did not try hard enough to improve the interior quality and presentation of the current generation ML. I have sat inside before and everything feels a class lower than the competition, but I guess people just want a Mercedes and overlook these flaws. |

| Re: 250.000 ML-Class since April 2005!! This is true. The ML, R and even GL still don't look and feel like say a E or CLS, not to mention a S or CL which are Mercedes' highest quality interiors. Part of the problem is that the design is so plain compared to the E or CLS or CL/S. There is still a disconnect between German and Alabama built Benzes. M |

| Re: 250.000 ML-Class since April 2005!! Definitely. I was checking out a ML 500 with designo package in the motor show and the doors still did not have leather trim. It was just plain hard plastic. I was surprised, for an ML 500 with Designo package, how could it not have something so basic as that? I noticed they have it in the “Edition 10" version wich looks soo much better. |

| Re: 250.000 ML-Class since April 2005!! Concerning the finition I bet to disagree. Apart from the doorpanels, the finition is flawless, nothing like a Touareg where you have hard plastic everywhere and the luggage space on the top of the dashboard that is not correctly mounted on more than half the Touareg I saw... The Porsche is really not better...The Audi, I dislike, overcomplicated without harmony. The X5, never sat in the new one, the old one was good finished but not as good as the new ML. Kudos to the X5, but keep in mind that the ML is more than two years old...And sells as good as at its beginning! It is as beautiful too, the best-looking suv today. Only the Infiniti is as beautiful (well... a bit better even). The X6, well, the Concept is really beautiful, waiting the final product...and the rear space!! But the X5, not very inspiring and inspired imo... |

Interior materials in new X5 is top notch. Its certainly not the worst among the germans. And the exterior, its better than the others imo Right Tycoon!! ![]() All Q7, ML and X5 has very nice exteriors, the Cayenne is just weird. | |
