Nope, there are no new audi turbo yet or new mb engines yet. This is what they offer today and the cars tested you see in the headline. I say we focus on the cars in the test and talk about other engines when they are for sale

Audi will definitively deliver a very good V6 turbo engine. But even before a 300HP 3.2 FSI with ValveLift is awaited (premiered in Roadjet concept). So, a turbo version will surely produce at least 350HP.

Yet BMW's N54 has also a lot of reserve. Mind that 306HP figure was chosen not to outshadow 4.0L V8 with also 306HP. But this baby (N54) is capable of much more.

Re: Autozeitung: BMW 335i Touring vs Audi S4 Avant vs MB C55 AMG T-Modell

Up here at our Reef altitudes (+/- 1600m) the 335i Coupe (auto-tranny no less!) was tested to be faster than the E46 M3 at Gerotek's testing facility. Awesome. I said months ago that despite being a huge fan of the Audi S4 Avant, the 335i Touring will trounce it in the value proposition stakes. I'd own one in a heartbeat. And why? Because it's turbocharged of course. Not that I have anything against naturally aspirated engines you all know, it's just that I love that elastic band feeling that a turbo'd car delivers. It's personal preference isn't it? And exactly the same driving factor as to why I'm a fan of a Golf GTI or an Audi S3. I haven't owned a naturally aspirated car since 1999 (my wife has of course - the little Polo) and I can't see myself buying one soon either.

335i Touring? Damn. Sorrie for the Forrie... if I could afford one, I'd have one.

Mind you that 306 is a marketing thing. We know from those dyno tests its basically imposible for the engin to give just 306 HP.

Now bring on the M(urder)3.

Autobild, or was it AutoZeitung, also test the 335i vs. the M3 and the 335i won. It was also faster on some tracks than the CLK63, S4, C55 and even CLS 55 AMG and E55 AMG.

That's exactly what I'm trying to say. 306HP output was chosen by marketing dept. - the engine is capable of much more. And it will be set for higher output during its life cycle.

Did they have a RS4 in their testing?

No i 'm not. E90 is superior to A4 and C class right now in chassis , suspension and nearly every part of the car apart from build quality where A4 and C class still have the advantage and interior space which is just on par with the competition.

When you compare a turbocharged engine with a NA one , the turbo will always have the advantage. Audi has proven that years ago with the 2.0 TFSI which is superior to BMW's 2.5 lt I6 in every possible way.

So BMW has won against the competition with this engine but surely Audi and Mercedes with the next generations C class and A4 will strike back.

of course and so will BMW do when next generation comes. Its a neverending story. But in this test, 335i beat the performance vechicles from audi and MB. it shows that the new M3 will be one hell of a car. Enuff said!
