CLK 550 vs. 335i-your opinion.

I looked all over the interenet for something that compares these two cars but came up empty handed for the most part. The CLK has quite a bit more power than the 335i however seeing that the 335i has had such good reviews and an increasing amount of praise from car journalist, I thought i would pin it up against a car thats a bit out of its league. Support your vote with opinions concerning style, price, performance (track times, acceleration) etc.

CLK 550:

Price: $55,675
Engine: N/A 5.4 litre V8
Power: 382 hp @ 6,000 rpm
Torque: 391 lb-ft @ 2,800 - 4,800 rpm
0-60: 5.1s
Transmission: 7 spd. Automatic

These were the best I could find of this particular car....If anyone wants to post their own pictures of the CLK please do so.

BMW 335i

price: $41,295
engline: Twin Turbo inline 6
Power: 300hp @ 5,800 rpm
Torque: 300 lb-ft @ 1400-5000 rpm
0-60: 5.3s
Transmission: 6 spd. Manual

Re: CLK 550 vs. 335i-your opinion.

I chose the 335i because it's visually inspiring, it looks like
a trouble maker looking for someone to pick on.

The CLK 550, BATE!

IMO the CLK is a rip off. Hopefully the new one will designed with price in mind.

Re: CLK 550 vs. 335i-your opinion.

There was already a very "heated" thread about this exact same topic:

http://www.germancarzone.com/showthread.php?t=8271

I think most people preferred the 335i in that thread.

Re: CLK 550 vs. 335i-your opinion.

For the CLK's money, you can tune your 335i to be over 400hp. I would definitely rather have the BMW, just because it's one of my favorite "down to earth" cars at the moment, but the Benz definitely still have its charms.

great pics of both cars btw Matt

CLK550 is not worth the money compared to 335i. Choose 335i and save cash and pay extra for a engine chip instead

Re: CLK 550 vs. 335i-your opinion.

I'd have to go with the 335i too. The CLK550 has a lot of power, but the rest of the car is really starting to show its age, moreso than other MB models that came out at the same time like the E and SL. This current generation CLK has never really looked the part like the previous model (my car!). Go with the 335i, not as powerful, but much newer, better handling and generally a superior car IMO. The only thing the CLK550 has is that new gem of a V8, but its strapped to a now old vehicle.

335i, no need to explain why.
