Re: Vote 1 series out! BMW's product portfolio is perfection, every car in the range caters to a very specific demographic and buyer. More than that, every car serves a purpose in getting the point of the brand across, showing the world that any BMW can be had in any reasonable package that delivers on brand values (driving pleasure, traditional design values, and balance). As a matter of fact it would behoove Audi to study and apply a similar philosophy to it's lineup. There's still a bit of VW in Audi's product portfolio. ![]()

Re: Vote 1 series out! BMW's range has fleshed itself out very well over the past 5 years without adding much excess baggage. A few months ago I would have voted for the X3. It was ugly and a shameless cash cow. Now I think it's a cash cow with a very good facelift that manages to justify its existance... Wait. Y'know - while writing this I realize how dispassionate I am about the X3. I know it moves units and it was a smart move by BMW, but I still don't like the thing. BMW shouldn't be selling compact SUVs. Because they're lame. 1er is an important part of BMW's long-term Euro strategy. Cosmetically, it's not the strongest BMW out there - low trim models look pretty dawdy. The value or space or performance proposition needs to improve and the Golf gets the job done better. The 1er gets a B- in my book, but I still like it, and am eager to see it improve.

Re: Vote 1 series out! I wonder how BMW will respond to the complaints of the piss poor interior room of the current car with the next generation???

Re: Vote 1 series out! I'm not sure, and I'm not sure if it needs to be a priority. In my opinion, BMW needs to further refine the dynamic experience of the 1er and better "premiumify" the interior. There's plenty of competitors in this segment with excellent interior room. No doubt, BMW has to improve that aspect to better threaten the A3 and Golf, but I don't see it as priority #1.
